that was craig breedlove and that quote was actually filmed on the day after the crash.

if you do a search for the video, you will see that his hair is pristine and his suit is dry.

my great-uncle, ted gillette, who provided the ambulance for the salt flats in those days was there.

the idea to shoot that didn't occur until the night of the crash when he clipped a wooden pole and nosed into one of the many evaporation ponds out there.

I used to get a kick outta Cecil County. The people who lived in the house had a black horse that would stand with his chest against the back fence and watch the cars as they ran down the track.

Dave Lyall's NASCAR Ultra Stock fiberglass body car. The car still exists ... was and may still be in Brent Hajek's collection. It was red.

Hell, all I did was copy and paste, the photographer did a masterful job of capturing the image. The shots that I post, if I know who took it will always get the deserved credit.
This thread would not have existed without all those photographers taking these incredible pics posted here. My hat is off to those gentlemen, they allow us to relive some of the best times of our lives. They also allow the people that were not there, or are too young, the opportunity to see what we were so lucky to experience.

The Gunter Bros lil coupe was sool cool. I only saw it just before their Durachrome Bug surfaced. By then the coupe had a BBC and was running solid 8's sans blower.

Note Gabelich's reliance of a simple leather mask to serve as protection against fire!
