I've heard of it but NEVER saw a photo before! Yow!
I'd read some years back that a PAIR of supercharged
Auburn speedsters ran on the beach at Daytona in the
post-war, pre-NASCAR period. The Series SC 852
Lycoming 150-hp, 280-CID V-8s with 7-to-1 optional
compression ratio kept the Auburns at or near the
front in the early going. But after sand ate up the
superchargers, the two roadsters dropped out of
serious contention. That is all the detail I can recall,
and unfortunately, I DO NOT KNOW WHEN the race
took place! Anybody know?

Yes & yes but no!! 26/27 Coupe, with a slightly raked chop but the rear looks stock. It's been channelled as well which may make it look different there.

23-25 style T coupe body.I own one and know why you seldom see many made into rods or mounted on race chassis.These bodies were wooden frames with steel skins screwed and nailed on.A Stagecoach with a steel skin.I'm sure the Guntner Bros made a steel skeleton to mount the panels to.26-27 T coupes had metal framework with some wood which is why you will see more of them.
