erlomd, I have a chopped one at home that seems pretty low, I will measure the opening tonite to determine the chop. I won't be using this so it will be available if you are looking for one. PM me for pics. It is unplated. Gordon

I bought a Speedway full sized and choped it. They are cheaper than 2" chop. With the 3" chop, the original holes in the sides are gone. I just carefully marked it, protected it with tape and cut it on a band saw. I finished by filing it and painted inside and the edges. You need to chop both ends of the top bar also. The sides taper. I made new internal angles to match the top hole positions. It makes an amazing difference in the car.
Also, repo frames vary a lot. A brookville frame was way different than the Speedway. I think the Speedway is more accurate.

Nice...thanks I'll give him a call...I sit really low and the 2" chop will look off balance I think...besides I like the wanlass windshiel chop but I don't like the angle so it would be perfect.

The posts can be bought at Lobecks, that's where I got mine. The 2" chop is the old standard for a '32 roadster but after so many have been done it's almost like they came from the factory that way. my friend did a 4" and with the top on he can't get inside the damn thing. At 3" you've go the new 2". lol

I concur that three is the new two!

I had my 3" custom made.
the posts I chopped myself, welded and repolished.

  16. Tim at MN Hot Rod Hardware had mine made for me.

I cut up 2" stantions to make it work. There was someone making 3" ones but the cost saving to do them myself was too big to not do it myself.

I like the chopped posts from Superior Car Parts, the top iron people. They have 2 & 3 inch with all the combinations for mirrors and wind wing brackets.

Here is a 3 inch chop with the correct top bows and irons. The top irons are difficult but Neil Gates now has the 3 inch irons available. Your seat needs to be low or you need to be short. I am 6' 1" and I just fit.
