Thought I would share a little progress report on the old family wagon. Thanks to my friends that helped and to Hot Rod Pro(DANNY) at Bruces Rod Shop that was involved in this project. The front end is a drop axle kit from Chassiss Eng..the rear is a Super Glid from Pete&Jakes..Front tires 5.00-5.25x16 the rears 6.50x16.To me I would like it a little lower in the back!!!What do yall think?Trying to get it ready for the Roundup! right around the corner.. I am working on it!!!!!!;)

looks good randy. on the rear take the two top leaves off, and make spacers under the u-bolt straps to make up the difference. that will drop the back down maybe the amount you need. that is how i fine tuned the rear of my old sedan, but was not the only thing i did.:D

    Yep . small drop
    LOOKS GREAT, KOOL KAR.

  7. Leave the rear where it is & run 7.50x16 tires back there. They should fill the fenderwell perfectly.... & even though Ryan has done it too, I wouldn't let that keep me from seriously considering blackwall tires.

The car looks great! Keep us posted.

    5/5.25 & 7.50 x 16"s on my old 38...

Go Dark Maroon, that would look really cool with the Back body. I'd also do black walls with the Dark Maroon and either run trim rings or don't.

  12. Mine were powdercoated. It was supposed to be a nice coffee or chocolate color brown but they came out WAY lighter than I wanted. Thankfully, they looked decent but were only about half as dark as I had been hoping. They were darker than the pic above makes them look.

I like the maroon that JeffreyJames suggested but I think I like a dark brown even better.

Hmm...dark brown huh? Never thought about that for the wheels. I like the idea!!! I have been digging dark brown lately and even planned to paint my '33 dark chocolate brown but never thought about the wheels. Shhhhnazzy!

That's a good looking car man... I like the mild stance... I'd go a smidge lower in the rear rather than running the 7.50 tire. I think 7.0-16's are the perfect size on the rear of these cars. I've got 6.50's now....

Yeah that would be cool too bluesman. Another option is to powdercoat black and find some stainless Spider caps to run with the black walls. I think that might work as well.

Ryan's probably right with the 7.00's. The 7.00 are a more appropriate tire especially for the 40's. I talked in length to Zach Suhr about tire sizes when choosing them for my '33 and he had some really key points about tire sizes and their places through the years. 7.00's out back and 6.00's up front if it were me. On a coupe I think the 7.50's look killer but the sedan might look a little cartoonish.

I like it as it sits. You're running the same tire combo I have on my '40. I wouldn't take it apart and off the road just yet, drive it a while first. I was dead set on 7.50's for the rear of my car too, now I am just fine w/ my 6.50's.

...on the other hand, the rear of a sedan is big and would help soak up the big ol 7.50's. It's all about the stance.

Shit dude I would have traded you my 33 3w if you would have traded me that '32 sedan I wanted so damn bad. That thing would have solved my family hauling problems and did it with style. Now I have 3 coupes and a growing family.....I know I know, I could have much bigger problems.

Is everyone aware that firestone deluxe champion 7.00x16s are actually TALLER than 7.50x16s ??? by about an 1/8 ". just thought I would throw that out there. I measured them both mounted on a 4.5" width rim. the 7.50s are quite a lot wider across the contact patch, of course.
