Folks Of Interest Clutch Popper Wednesdays

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jalopy Kid, Jan 6, 2011.

  1. Nice, sounds like a busy night!
So a shoebox, and Edsel and a fleetline... sounds like you guys have good taste!

  2. When the hell you coming this way anyways?

  3. Well, from what John has been telling me the weather is still shit. I leave the Middle East in March to go to Saskatchewan and when the weather is nice will either bring my '56 up from Long Beach or have it transported up from Long Beach.

  4. Looks like a great group doing some killer stuff. Love the paint job.

Hey - This is a direct result from clutch popping and it was actually done on a Wednesday.

  5. 700+hp and an 8"....good attempt on running it. I was a matter of time.

Something about Wednesdays. I love them.

  6. Here in Alberta the weather is always shit!

Thats nice! I'm impressed. Just for that you can be an honorary Clutch Popper for a week!

  7. Wow!! A whole week?? Tudor, you lucky sumbitch.

    Is it Wednesday yet?

  8. Awesome!! Hey post up some radical sock abuse pictures and we'll reciprocate!

  9. And once again another Wednesday has come and gone. Tonight we hopped in my T-Bird and cruised down to the usual spot for a quick bite to eat. Dave and I had the mushroom burger, johnny had the Chef-Boyardee spaghetti.

We stopped off at Princess Auto on the way back to pick up a shiny red tool box for the trunk of the Model A. But is it really a tool box?
Johnny got the job of putting the tool box in the car.

What? Is he drilling holes in my tool box? Dude? I just bought that!

I guess it wont fall out if it's bolted to the floor.

    Thems some funny looking tools...

Incase you havent figured it out yet, the "tool box" is a battery box, and the fuse panel will also be mounted inside the box.

While he was doing that, I got started on running the fuel line from the pump to the carbs. My first attempt of this was on Saturday, and after spending 5 hours driving around the city, going to every parts store and hardware store open, i still could not get two 5/16 "T" fittings. Went to Gregg Distributors on Monday morning and had both of them in 10 minutes. I hate when stores are not open on Saturday!

Wow do I ever need a haircut!

    And the finished product!

Dave continued on with the steering arm / draglink he started a few weeks back.

While we are all doing that, Fat Fred did what he does best...nothing at all...

And my Roadster is now one step closer to the road, maybe, just maybe, this weekend we will fire it up and break in the new Isky 400 cam!

  10. This one is for you Tudor!! If this doesnt get me in to the Sock Fuckers Car Club I don't know what will!!

  14. I do have a question on the battery box. Will it be vented? I'm just curious. With the fuse box and battery sharing the same space I would be concerned.

    Just a thought.

    Looks like another great Wednesday!

I am enjoying the updates although the sexual innuendos in the pics scare the shit out of me LOL.

  18. Thanks for the update Lee.

I don't even bother trying anywhere but Greggs anymore for electric supplies or fittings. They always have what you are looking for in stock and no pissing around digging through bins that guys have mixed all the parts up in. The only down side as you mentioned is that you have to preplan what you need if you plan on working on the weekend.

  19. It was Daves idea I swear

    Yes!!! I'm in!!! I'm a medium :D

  20. There is an extra drain / vent hole in the bottom, plus there will be a few more holes drilled in it for the battery cables and wiring harness to come out the backside. Hopefully that should be enough ventilation?
Anyone else have any thought? Do I need more?

Greggs rules! They have everything! But like you said you have to "pre-plan", which is one thing I'm not so good at when it comes to working on my own cars haha.
I'm used to just phoning when I need something and it usually gets dropped off in 20 minutes by a deliver truck... I've been spoiled for too many years haha:D

  21.
  22. Just wanted to make sure you're safe.

    Louvers would be too cool.

Lee some bateries have a doodad that a piece of 1/4" plastic line will push on to, this is the vent and you could run it out the bottom of the box. Louvers in the lid would be the shit though.
