Anyone recognize this track. Tower looks cool, and it looks like they are doing the burnout up hill.

I wonder why Dave changed the Beswick Comet to a straight axle after the 90's?

All the pics I have found are in the section on page 100 of this thread.I have been going back and adding pics when I find them to some of the Comets. I still need to go back and add the Canary shots in that post. There are about 4 more to add.

  8. That's Quaker City Dragway in Ohio. This shot was probably from one of the "Supercar Showdowns" they had there. The track actually runs a bit up hill too!!:D

    Morning Jody.

I knew you would know.Track looks fun.

Thats for sending me that link on the truck. Your right I have to have that Truck. I'm calling on it today. Its probably too much Red for Roy though.

All I know is I would look cool running around the country in that.

Dave chage it to the straight axle and put the cammer with hilborn injectors and updated with fresh paint and had it relettered for the mecum auction last year. He wanted the car to look like if that Arnie kept it and raced it, also arnie drove the car up to auction platform. it was the first time in over forty years that Arnie sat in the car.

The Beswick A/FX car had a straight axle on it when Dave bought it in the 80's. He left it that way, even though he painted and lettered the car back as when Beswick had it.

Post # 2438 has a pic of the Yankee Comet. I've tried to save it to my files and then print it for my collection but all I get is a black stripe down the center of the paper? Any suggestions as to how to save and print that pic? Thanks. Syl

Is that an OEM style of breather on the 418 Comet? It looks to be an oil bath style, but I may be callling it wrong? I'm still trying to chase down the "fix" for a clean remedy to crankcase breathers.

Dale;how about running lines from your catch can to the collectors? Is the puke tank vented?Do you have any crankcase air intake?Even a so-called closed crankcase has air going into the engine.Scott's 64 just uses two open breathers,I have not looked at the engine after a pass to check for oil leaks, you can't see any oil smoke during a pass, and he wings the piss out of that 289! Dale;I went back and looked at your pictures of the breather system.Could you put an open breather on one of the VCs?What is the plugged nipple on the puke tank for?Could you plumb it to a remote breather? My vacuum pump system has a metered air intake,so I'm thinking you need air in to help stabilize the crankcase pressures!! Just guessing as I am NO engineer!! ROY.

Fellas, do any of you guys know anything about the hood on this Comet? I called Crites about 6 months ago to see if they repopped one like it, and they said they saw it at a show and were intrigued by it, but didn't have one. I'd be all over a hood like that for my '64 if I could get my hands on one...

Roy- I did a "suck and blow" test on the modified breathers I made to work with the catch tank. Needless to say, I found it very hard to push air through it, and now realize these were designed to work in conjunction with a pan evac system, not by themselves alone. So I pulled a "fast one" and removed the bitchin bottom portions, that register very tightly in the VC rubber grommet, and welded them onto the bottoms of two new K&N breathers, so there is a true 1" opening of breathable space. Two of these should be at least the same, if not not slightly better than Scott's Can't even see my mod unless you take off the breathers! . Off with the hose rig..... As my good friend Dave always tells me: "Hey! You don't know what you don't know!"

  30. I talk to a guy at Seattle with a hood like that on his 65.He told me that when his freind built the car he had that hood made. Looked like a Crites snorkel with a bubble graphed on. That bumper is very cool.
