Kool build . looks like you have spent a lot of time researching the car. There are a lot of back roads to cruise slow on .

I'll be there between 9 and 10 in the morning.

By this time tomorrow she will be well on the road to being chopped after you return!! Hell yeah!!!

  5. Pete(235kid) came over and we worked on getting the car turned in the garage today. It is now sitting across two bays of my garage. A lot easier to work on then beofre. Took out remaining glass and small items. Looked over body took a wire wheel to the passenger side of the rear quarter. From where the door meets the quarter to about half way above the wheel well and then down is a patch panel that was put in sometime long ago. It was put in wrong and it needs to be cut out and redone. Absolutely butchered. Not too happy. I know it can be fixed though.

Put the engine on the engine stand. Engine stands are not made for flathead 6's though.

Pulled my groin muscle moving some heavy stuff. Relaxing now. Wife and I are going to work on the car tomorrow. Nice way to spend a sunday.

  8. This is what I found under the paint. This is what I have to deal with. I was able to remove all the filler on this quarter. The other quarter will be the same thing.

    Hey,

At least you have quarters to work with............ After grinding out all of the brass, cuz as you know, ya can't weld over it,I'd run a cut off wheel between the patch and the oem quarter, and but weld them together. Ya should be able to metalfinish 80-90% of the repair with filler only necessary over the double wall paneled areas. I think this was the last year Mopar used Briggs Body Co. to build their bodies after which they built their own bodies. The later Exner era unitized construction bodies were notorious rotters!
    Good luck with the build.

And now, on to the roof!

Hey not bad! At least it's not huge rust holes filled with chicken wire n bondo huh?! I'm gonna be in Austin next week and trying to get the sibling to let me borrow her truck and drive up to see your car (when's the next time I'm going to be in Texas!?) but I don't see it happening. Keep at it though! Maybe I'll get there for Round Up!

  13. I just got these pictures from Ed Sloan. These are his personal photos of when he had the car. What is great is the photo of the car unchopped and in primer.

  21. I got them from a friend. They do show up on ebay once in awhile. sometimes they are listed as ford or chevy.

I haven't been feeling well lately, but I did manage to almost get the passenger side stripped. Except for a small dent on the door it is very straight.

    More to come.....

  23. Well not much has continued with the car. I started my new job and have been working a ton of overtime to help pay off bills that stacked up due to not being in work for almost a year.

Im am hoping to start stripping the car some more this weekend. Ill post more pictures hopefully.

Wow, you Texan's have it easy. Mopars of this vintage look nothing like that here in the North East. For example, My '53 DeS had rotted out fenders, inner and outer rockers, floor, and trunk pan.

The typical saying for rust here in New York is "everything from the belt line down."

Lookin good kid, keep it up.
