I'm planning on Z-ing the rear of my '29 Tudor build. Has it been determined where the best place is to Z the rear frame? I would assume that the best place is just in front of the rear cross-member. Also, what degree of slant should the Z be cut at? Thanks, Untame PS - If this has already been discussed to death here at HAMB, then please pardon my inability to find it with the search feature. Instead of flaming me, I would kindly ask to be given a link to that thread. Thanks!
The best place to Z it would be the place where you keep as much interior space as possible but still keep the clearance you need for your rear suspension. That place will vary depending on the style of suspension used. You need to give out all that info to get a good response!
The body will be channeled completely over the frame. I'm going to use a Ford 9" rear end/axle. I'm not sure about the suspension yet. I'm going to be looking at one locally that is coil-over to give it some thought. Untame
Well, your gonna need to have that stuff semi-finalized or you might find yourself backed into a welded up corner. Do a mockup with your suspension and frame and then the right place to cut will be obvious...or maybe the wrong place will be obvious. Either way your a step ahead! Brianangus did a big post on building a Hotrod chassis. Be a good read for you for sure. Covers a lot of the little things IIRC...
