I think its Gene Holt running out of Cline Automotive. 271 HP with a stick. Cline Auto was the shop that preped the 383 in the 71 Dodge Challenger that the late Gene Collins and myself ran at the end of 1971 in what was then H/SA. Cline Automotive was big into a bunch of stockers and very good at what they did.
If I remember right the Harris & Duvall Chev II ended up running a 327/350 HP combo for awhile in A/S or AA/S. They were out of Richmond Va. I think. Whew....Its been awhile to remeber exactly. Makes my head hurt....LOL.

I don't know who was driving it in that picture but the "Powerglide Prosecutor" car ended up at "The Ranch," the South Whittier race shop of Tony Janes. Tony can undoubtedly fill in the name of the correct driver on that particular day.

Don't forget our friend, the late Cal Queahpama, a really tough racer and all-around nice-guy from Division 6.

Right on Chuck....I was going to mention him but could not remember  how to spell his last name. He was a tough and fair racer.

Cal Queahpama and Jerry Mulkey spent some time at my house in Northridge during the Winternationals in the late 60's. Great guys and great eaters.

Cal Methods 66 impala wagon is still raced by Tim Weinzapfel, and has held a few NHRA records in the last few years .Currently holds the Q stick record at 12.71 103 mph.It was also owned by the Late Jim Burg, who called it All Dollars and No Sense. When the car was owned by Cal M. it was a stick car ,and had 3 or 4 different frames under it,all victims of 6000 rpm starts!!!

Colesy -- Just LOVE looking for cars in background of pix. Way down the line in the ground-level pic I can see the open door of our Ron Garey driven Chesrown 68 Hurst Olds C/SA. Thanks - Tweed

And, they'll still rip your eyeballs out if you give them a half-a-chance. These days, Cal tunes and Mary Ann drives. I talked to Cal on Sunday and they'll be here next week, just the way he has been for every Winternationals since the days of the '57 wagon.

colesy ; I wish I knew who you are, because chances are you may remember me! --- I helped with the announcing duties @ the NHRA WCS Dragway Park event in 1980 and each year thereafter 'till they ended. I was the 'yankee' from across the river. Worked through the end of the Mehlenbacher era, for John & Sharon Fletcher and Bill & Vince Vanni; all great times in my life!---Paul :)

This is no mystery. Drag racing is hard on relationships and racing at the level that Cal has maintained for over 45 years is even harder (don't bother to ask me how I know, I just never bothered to put their names on my car). Like several of us, Cal has made more than one trip to the altar. I became well acquainted with Cal as far back as the mid-70s and Mary Ann has been "Mrs. Method" for a long, long time.
