I live in NY and bought this from craigs list over the phone. Sent a friend to pick it up in Virginia. The guy had it sitting in his garage for 15 years gathering parts. He bought it from the original owners grand son who had to sell it because he was going to prison. He did the title work with the guy behind bars.

  15. In a storage shed/barn, late 31 with indented firewall, bought it, 2 weeks later I was laid off, sold it to a good friend, two weeks after I sold I was hired back...jerkoffs @ work really know how to piss a guy off...
It was all there, taken apart in 1965, virtually zero rust, frame/engine/everything else was late '31, all in bitchin' shape, lotsa extra parts... As soon as I found out I was "un-laid off" I wanted to buy it back, but that wouldn't have been fair to the guy I sold it to, so I didn't even ask..
Guess it wasn't meant to be... maybe that '41 Americar is still in the garage waiting for me...

1949 Chrysler New Yorker 2 door Coupe, 325 straight 8. Was the Fire Chiefs car for the Windsor Fire Department in Windsor, California. Stored in a barn on a vineyard in Napa, California for who knows how long? Has black plates stamped 1963. Found by a friend of a friend, and after some extended jockying, phone calls, letters, price wrangling, and a couple of trips to Napa, I brought her home. A little cleaning up and polishing, and four tires and here's what she looks like. Runs and drives great! The dash is shot and the door panels are falling off, definitely needs some interior work. Thinking about a 4 inch chop in the front, 5 in the back, slant the B pillars forward more, and remove and fill in door handles, trunk handle and logos, taillights, and gas filler. Then skirts, a slight lowering (no bags), and a satin maroon paint job.

Been sitting since 1983. Bought it from the original owners son. His old man passed away in the middle of doing some body work and a motor swap. [IMG]
