Axle told us about the fire at the show. Hate to see anyone lose anything but that had to be a feeling of total helplessness to watch your trailer smoke and flame away knowing what was inside. I cant even fathom that kind of experience....
I feel sorry for Bones, he doesn't need us questioning his towing abilities either. I know from towing the dragster after awhile you stop checking the trailer every minute...it's just back there...then it's on fire, no in between when you're going 60 mph. The same thing happened to me when I was towing my 38 Ford home from north of Baltimore, if a person driving on the Baltimore Beltway hadn't been quick with the heads up, I probably would haven't noticed until I stopped at the toll plaza at the Bay Bridge. Hey, look at that, that guys 38 Ford is on fire on his trailer...hey wait, I'm that guy! www.highspeedmotorsports.com
What a shame. Towing a trailer with a camper it is a good idea to have a camera facing the trailer, might have saved the car.
this very sad. look close at the tire on trailer, it lines up with the door of the car. now look at the inside part of the trailer fender.see it kind of bent up. looks like tire exploded, either from the fire or before the fire. maybe a piece of the tire/rim/inside trailer fender hit the car door. any way this is irrevellant(?) . it (the car) can be replaced. as long as no one was hurt is all that matters.
Kenny does some insane work. The guy is an artist. What an awful thing...to watch a car like that burn down.
Really sorry to see what happened here...those pictures just made me sick, what a beautiful car. And if you've never had a trailer on fire, you can't imagine! It CAN happen so very quickly, no matter how on the ball you are. Towing a Formula Super-V car across Texas headed for FL, we had a tire blow on the trailer-(3 axle), a piece of rubber wedged above the other tires, and when we saw it, it was ablaze! We managed to get it out with an ice chest full of water, and an extinguisher, with almost no damage, but if we'd have gone on for another mile or so, things might have been very different...It all happens so quickly!! Just glad nobody was hurt...
Absolutely sickening to see such art get destroyed. No personal injurys and thats a plus. Possibly they can rebuild the car as it was a master piece/
No doubt, Bones is one of the finest craftsmen as well as a genuine nice guy! Met him years ago at the SEMA show and he was just as down to earth as he could be. Sure hate that this happened to him and his car. As has already been mentioned, this stuff can happen in moments!
I just spoke to the insurance carrier who they just sign with all being taken care there in good hands
I know you are getting **** about it already ( as you should ) but it caught fire. Heat fuks things up. You know that right? I am suer that it wasn't just filled with bondo or lead. Look at the rest of the car. Seriously? Did you think about that before you posted it? At all?
to bad about their car , it was a beauty , glad they are ok , hope they but something else to enjoy ,
Wow, that's hard to look at. If he finds out what caused the fire, love to hear the lesson learned. I'm sure he was being careful and we can all learn something helpful.
wtf people can't ask whats up with the door without getting jumped on? oh and im sure you read the rest of the discussion before you jumped on it right? moe does more to answer peoples questions around here than most so why not give people a break before jumping on them whn they ask whats up with a door on a supposedly 1/4 million $$ car? its not wrong to question why things are, its wrong to question people who ask question. its to bad that things like this happen but cut with the drama, i mean if you were the uncle of the guy with the burnt car wouldnt you ask him how the door got bent and would he jump on you for asking, no i dont thing he would.
A real shame Jim is a really great guy, he has built some amazing Boats, Choppers, Street Rods, and Customs over the years. Glad to hear that he and his wife are ok!
If you would have read his post you'd see why he's getting ripped on. He didn't simply ask why the door was caved in, he asked why while simultaneously accusing the builder of filling a door in with inches of body filler. And to make the claim more absurd, he did so based on pictures of said vehicle after it was engulfed in flames in an enclosed space and then shot with a fire hose, and Lord knows what else. Now you're getting ripped on for your lack of reading comprehension skills.
