Where does the term "tri-fives" come from?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BOMONSTER, Feb 14, 2011.

  1. It wasn't until the last decade of the last century that I heard shoebox used in conjunction with anything but a '49-'51 ford and it wasn't until lately that I heard anything but a '55-'57 chevy called a tri-five.

Internet use has damaged a lot of our language usage. Someone says something and someone who isn't informed just takes it as fact. Sometimes I say things that are wrong and I know it just because I want to see who will pick it up and run with it. More often than not a month or so later I will say it correctly and someone will tell me I'm wrong. Just a sign of the itmes I guess.

My understanding on the tri-five chevy is that the 3 years share a body platform.

Couldnt have said any better myself. Now how about a slammed, hammered, sliced, bagged, nosed, decked, shaved, peaked, frenched, tunneled suede sled.

The only car that can be called a 'shoebox' is a 49-51 Ford, that's it, and the only one a 'deuce' a 32 Ford.
