Well folks, it's that time of year again. Time when a few warm days in a row start to make you realize Spring is around the corner. And that means gatherings of hotrods and customs, good friends and good food.

    6th Annual Mid-West HAMB-B-Q will be on Saturday April 16th 2011.

You know the drill. We will smoke up a half-dozen or so pork shoulders, stir up some homemade coleslaw, and bake some super secret bbq beans.

This years itinerary will encompass some site-seeing in beautiful Abilene Kansas. We will meet for breakfast at Sweet Daddy's, then head over to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. After viewing the excellent exhibits there, we will motor over to my house for some grilling and hanging out.

At some point after that we will head over to Kuntz's Drive In for dessert. Then back down to my house for Movies On The Barn and more food and beverage.

Once again, we invite anyone that can make it. It's always good to be able to put a face to a name, and have a chance to talk about traditional hotrods & customs. So if you are up for a little road trip, please come on over. I have room for campers and rvs and tents. Last year we had 13 people stay over Saturday night (I'll be making egg sandwiches for breakfast again Sunday morning.)

I'd also like to thank all my Vagabond brothers and others that come early and help out. There is no way I could do this without you all!!!

So spread the word, and I hope to see you soon.

Here is the raw video KCMongo took last year. I like to put on a little classic jazz and watch it.

That was PrototypeDesignFlauz's grill, no lava rocks and the gas manifold was worn completely out. He has since refurbished it though. :)

    It's a conspriracy!

  15. Well, that looks like fun! Love the tunes!

  16. So what movies will we be watching on the barn? Travis is always up for Mars Attacks but I've been thinking of something more like Christine.

Dangit! Same weekend as the NSRA show in OKC. Looks like I'll have to miss it :( You folks have yourselves a good time for me will ya?

For those that have never been to one, I finally made it last year, you need to get to this event if you can. Good cars, good times and most importantly a bunch of good people to hang with.

    Greezy, You're PFAT. ;)

It's not on swap weekend for a change. Hmmmm.

  21. Be there Ben!

  22. Actually, I tried to tell you. You had about your 7th helping by then and your eyes kept rolling back in your head though. I guess you don't remember Jay getting a flat and him rolling up on your passed out belly to clear the wheels off the ground either? Gotta watch out for that BBQ coma. I'll bring the carrots and perrier.

I called and got the group rate for the museum- $5.50, and $2.00 for the boyhood home.

Like to make it this year... we will see! By the way, have you ever heard of the "Rapid Tappets" from Abilene? Found this plaque today and thought of you being from Abilene...

I haven't heard of them. Is that Abilene Kansas or Texas I wonder? There is a couple local guys that will be at the bbq that we can ask.
