Ok, I wasent really looking for another project car. Lasy year my son and I finnished restoring a 67 dune buggy. It was a fibergl*** unibody, very fugly. after 2 years we learned that we really kind of dug it. We keep it in Mexico. last month I kind of fell into a 48 ford coupe. We scratched our heads for a while before jumping but we both knew we were hooked. Thats when I found this board. Since then weve decided to drop it on an S10 ch***is with a 350 TBI. Since the car appears to be an Arizona car, there aint a stich of rust on it. Maybe a couple of light dimples in a fender. I plan a 2 year build if money holds out. Seeing how most of you help each other out with advice, as well as all the different postings and pictures have really given me inspiration. Unfortunately, my son (now 14 years old) will be getting his drivers License in two years and has the idea that he will be getting the coupe. My first question for you all would be how to convince him he would be better off with a **** car he can wreck without me killing him... I may have just answered my own question. Thanks for the inspiration everyone, and Ill keep you all posted with opur progress. Joe
Agreed, Keep the original ch***is and run a flatty or something similar. My opinion, keep the Ford ALL Ford. Welcome, you'll dig it here.
I would keep it ford, but the last owner put a chrysler engine and front suspension in it. Butcher job. He cut the frame and fashoned a bracket to connect the peices together around a power sterring box. An eight year old could have done better welds. The rear half is in ok shape I guess. Ive read about the S10 ch***is swap and it seems like the best way to go??? I like the idea of power stearing and brakes, as well as parts availability. If there is a better fit out there or if you guys have other ideas, please advise. Its the reason I joined you all. Joe
