I agree.

#44 .. the Screaming Yellow Zonker .. I'm having a senior moment (brain fade) ...... Who drove this car?

Screaming Yellow Zonkers was a popular popcorn product, but I doubt a sponsor. Rather I think it was the name of the car .. as such it has always stuck in my memory and always will.

  10. Here is a WILD STORY!!!!
Few pages back I posted this Pinto I saw in Harlem, some said it's too nice to cut up. Some of you might have actually read the for sale sign and saw he had a parts car.

Well here's the story!!! From Kjeyres on The Wall Stadium Message Board.

Thanks for posting it on the Jalopy Journal.

Bought it for $250. Real nice elderly man (88) from Manhattan. Stored it in North Jersey. He used it for parts for his restored Pinto. Gonna make a nice modified body one day.

The #44 ''Screamin' Yellow Zonker'' was a Mario Fiore car & driven by an & up & coming driver named Gary Coultari..hope thats right. He drove it for a few seasons & was doing well at the Park with it but tragically lost his life in motorcycle accident. Back then I got speedway scene, a NE racing paper at the time & one of the writers Toodi Gelinas knew him very well... & wrote about it in detail. The ride went to Reggie Ruggerio afterwards IIRC. Hope that helps. This is the best thread on racing history I've ever seen steve pellerin

  17. I was there for that race. Ran the modifieds on the road course.

I'm pretty sure Buzzie ran the same car in his colors the year or two before that in the same road course modified race.
