A Lotus super 7 and a Caterham are aluminum. I have never seen a factory MG TD that had an aluminum body the one I now own is steel and the two I had in the 60s were steel. If you found an aluminum anything I'd say you found a real exotic car. Do you have any pixs.

...indeed. We were in the other lane racing these guys fairly regularly and they were definitely the guys to beat. I love this shot. High and tight. Way past the lights. Front (bicycle) tires about ready to part company. No sign of engine fatigue. Chutes coming out... This was typical of B&M and this was probably a big number on a Saturday afternoon that put them deep in the field for that evening. These guys were bad ass.

    Regarding Oddy's Opel:
Taken from NHRA.com about 72 Nationals

In Comp, Jim Oddy could do no wrong. The veteran New York BB/Gas Supercharged Opel driver won when Don Bonfanti's Amos Moses A/Altered broke after earlier hitting sub-record clockings while beating some of the toughest in the land. Oddy's big break, however, came in the semifinals when "Hoot" Gibson of Omaha, Neb., hit a mighty 7.34 in his B/Fuel Dragster to break out after Oddy had already slowed to a trouble-plagued 12.79.

The car was then sold to Frank Mazi.
Here is a strory of Frank and what happened to the Oddy Opel,

You guys are indeed fortunate to have been a part of such fantastic nitro FED history. Beebe and Mulligan were the best of the best in their era. I am old enough to have been a fan of B&M while they were still around. I am still thrilled that I went to the New York National "Bakersfield Smokers" Meet in the summer of 69. See all my heros in person including B&M.

thanks for your comments. you really know what you're looking at!

  18. Love the "Train" at Lions. I once saw a above view of the Freight Train, I believe it was from the bridge at Lions. Anyone know which picture I'm talking about and can post... Thanks for bringing back great memories of my favorite hangout.

Yea Paul still likes to play with the cars. He doesn't drive anymore but loves the sport very much. In the you tube video @ about :30 seconds in you will see Pauls Camaro with his son doing the driving. If you stay until 3:30 of the video you will see my son driving his Camaro. Paul and I do alot of back and forth bench racing, we have so much fun at the races. We only wish our bodies would let us take the place of the kids.

Here's a shot of the same car (I think?) a couple years ago getting ready for restoration.
