Arnie Beswicks Catalina from AMT. Excellent kit. Added plug wires/looms, a scratchbuilt dipstick, valve stems, battery cables. Tamiya rattle can paint.

Everyone else: I just ordered me up 7 kits from Scale Hobbyist for when I'm too burned out on my 1:1 toys. This thread, week in and week out, is making me hornier and hornier for styrene and resin.

 

here's a couple I've done. Not on the level of the rest of you but I'm happy with the way they turned out.

 

Here is an altered I built about thirty years ago, it is showing it's age. A lot of the chrome is fading away, and the paint has lost it's shine. The chassis is a combination of of wood dowels and a Revell parts pack. The body is also a Revell parts pack item with the wheel wells cut out. The engine and the rest of the parts are from the parts box.

 

50 years later the AMT '40 still holds up. Well done!

 

I really don't know just where this is going just yet but here it is. I found a "new" long lost box of spare parts and decided I would build up something using the leftover "tub" from my Revell 3 in 1 Rat Rod kit.
Since the frame was already being used on the closed cab version I decided to try my hand at scratchbuilding one from Evergreen styrene strips. The hardest part was building the rear leaf springs since the only leftover rearends I found didn't have them. Still need to come up with a proper radiator/grille combination and scratchbuild some sort of pickup box. I'll probably stick with this engine (although another carb setup is in order) since the headers for it clear the frame.

Here's a 1/8 scale T, I did a couple of years ago. Scratch built Jag rear-end, tilt body. Also one picture of the real car, I tried to clone.

Here's a 40 Ford coupe I built last about a year ago. It was inspired by a 38 Dodge I saw at the Salina, Ks Kustom Kemps show.

 

AMT's 25 T, built in an early fifties style..

 

One more of my thirty year old model subjects...The twelve megapixle camera really picks up on the orange peel. This is Revells Anglia, released under the Advent label, around 1980.

 

Love that glass shifter knob--is that a scratch-built piece? The pipers are exactly what I'm going for on my rig.

Great stuff as always guys. Alyn, the interior of that '40 always leaves me amazed. Realer than real! And GTOEasy64, that's an awfully clean chassis for such a Rusty Iron! Those seats are really fine. Did you scratch build them, or find them somewhere?

 

Here's some work- in-progress shots of my replica of the "Fresno" '29 Ford HiBoy from the "Deuce of Spades" flick. (The mockup is held together with rubber cement...) I'm trying hard to get it done in time for next weekend's NNL West.
