Dil, what are you using for an ass end in this car? I am looking for a 64 older Pontiac/Olds spool and axles if you have anything left you are not going to use, or if you know of any. There has to be some of this stuff around used. If you or anyone has this email steve@pontiacheaven.org
Motor is lookin' sick, love those valve covers! Always look forward to when this thread pops up again. All the extra photos from you guys are great too, keep it up!!
Hi Steve, I saw where Fabcraft is selling 31 spline spools now if that helps. Dil, nice work on the headers!
A GTO Gasser???????? Sounds like a novel "new" idea to me! Can't wait to see it at some nostalgia events! F.Y.I. I've been to some Pontiac-Oakland Club International conventions and NEVER seen one in the show.
Thanks for the compliments Guys. I'll be posting more pics in a few days. Ordering the rest of the steering parts tomorrow to be able to complete all that so I can steer the beast. Steve, I sold the other complete big car rear end I had just before I got this car. Who knew. Other than the big housing in the 66, it's all converted to 9" Ford. Tired of breaking schtuff in the "60" rear end
Are those the valve covers from Spotts Performance? They look like the ones they have shown for sale. Agreed with the comment above, they look real nice.
Spotts Performance sells Moon valve covers that look similar. The ones on Dils car look like old Cal Custom valve covers to me but I could be wrong.
55, I got the Valve Covers from Ace at Pacific Performance Racing in San Pedro, Ca. They look old school but they are new and nice quality. They are also tall and clear poly locks and the price was cheap. Tell him Dil sent you.
the original owner of this car lives here on long island ..i met him at a car show and he was asking if anyone knew where this car was anyone know if its still aorund?...he said he wanted to get it back sold it so he could get married .he and the wife are still together and he wants it back ..
Working on getting the steering box mounted. I had to move it out about 8" to line everything up correctly
The weather has been pretty nice this weekend and it got me motivated to get back after the 64. I spent this weekend working on the dash so here's some pics of what I was doing. I cut a pattern out of a piece of construction paper and then drew a few gauge layouts to see what I like the best. I couldn't find a 2 1/6" hole saw so I just used a 2" and reemed out a bit with a 1/4 grinder.
I sanded the dash and shot some primer, then sprayed it with the original 60% gloss black. I chose to set the panel out at the first ridge rather than all the way back in where the original gauges were. Just a different look and more stright up and down than the way they originally leaned back deeper in the dash.
Seen this one over the years up here in NorCal... from street racing in Reno to running 8 second quarter mile times at Bakersfield... street driven too. It was for sale in the HAMB classifieds a bit ago... less alcohol gulping blown big block.
Worked on the steering column yesterday. Took off the shift indicator, cut off the shifter and gear indicator, ground down the leftovers, filled with plastic, primed and painted. Now it looks like a 4 speed column.
I spent a few hours in the shop Saturday and got the firewall and chassis ready to prime. Today I shot the primer and it covered real nice. Next week I'll round up some semi gloss black and get her spayed so I can get the engine back in and get her buttoned up. Oh, Dave Lennox is a huge fan of straight axle cars and stopped by to check out the progress.
Hi Guys, I got the firewall and front frame sprayed today with semi gloss black and repainted the engine the correct color blue for 1964.
