I am looking for any info on this old toy car. On the bottom is the name of the manufacturer and Akron Ohio. It looks like it was painted red at one time and I wonder what material it was made of. It could also use some wheels.

    Thanks,
    Larry

  2. Who's the manufacturer?

My guess would be hard rubber if it's not steel or tin.HRP

It MIGHT be Auburn Rubber Co. .... I had toy cars from there when I was a kid.

Looks like a Dealer Promotional model for a '35 Ford. I've got a red one just like it. How long is it, about 5 inches ?

How big is it? Is it made from a plastic like bakelite?

    The Dimensions are 4 5/8” x 1 5/8”.
If you have one could you please post a picture?
Hard to read the company – inc…---late (???)
How do I know if it is a promotional car? Even rough shape, it has detail.

    Source for wheels?

    Thanks,
    Larry

Here's mine, with what I would think are the correct original axles and wheels. On the bottom it says FORD under the radiator. On the drivers side running board it says Seiberling Latex Prod Co. Akron Ohio. Under the passenger side running board it says All Rubber, Made in USA. Yours must have shrunk a little because mine is slightly larger, but I think they are the same type of item.

There were several mfrs of rubber toy cars in the Akron, Ohio area due to the ready supply of tire by-products and an abundance of mold makers.

"The Ford Shows" book by Lorin Sorensen has photos of similar cars cast by Firestone in 1935

  11. Looks like a Seiberling to me too.

35 Ford and I believe they were souvenirs from the Ford display at the 1935 World's Fair.

Julian was a close friend of my brother-in-law. I'm sure he told me that Julian had passed away- within the past three months or so.

Sorry to hear about Julian, I didn't see him at Hershey in 09.
Is his son going to continue the business?
