I have always liked the way those look!

Be careful on the corners, those front hubs are weak, I shattered the passenger front on my 55 GMC and rolled it in 08.

I just finished going through this whole thread and saw some really cool trucks! I've always liked old COEs, delivery vans, and semi trucks. The are kind of homely but in a good way, if that makes any sense...

This is a Delivery Van that our family has owned for 45 years or so and it's been sitting on the property that it's currently at for my whole life (30 yrs). Does anyone know WHAT it is? I haven't seen it in person in a couple years or I'd go look myself. It's in real poor shape, and has been vandalized several times over the years by kids in the area, but it's always been a familiar site to me when our family visited that property and camped when we were kids.

Took it for it's first ride today. Everything worked like it was supposed to. Steering and brakes felt good. Motor ran fine.******* shifted like it was supposed to. By spring it should be all set. So far, so good.

Thanks guys. It is on a 89 1 ton dually R chassis. Took 30 inches out of the frame to leave a wheelbase of 106 inches. Kicked the frame in the rear 3 inches ( along with moving the rear spring mounts up 2 inches) to drop the rear to go along with the 3 inch dropped spindles and 1 1/2 coils removed.

I****ume that's a Chev chassis going by the plates on the wheels, what does the R mean in Dually R chassis? (Never heard of that)

Correct. I bought a 1989 Chevy Dump truck from a local landscape company. Not 100 % sure of the differences, but it makes a difference when ordering/buying parts.
    This info from Chevrolet.
    C, K, R, V SERIES
My vin lists my truck as a 2 Door Chassis Cab

An R chassis is a holdover from the previous style, looks like the '73-'87s. Has the early sheetmetal and frame. Most common in crew cabs and suburbans because GM wasn't making long roof cabs yet in '89.

Now it all makes sense, thanks for that!

I'm well aware of the holdover bodies, but I had never heard of that designation before.

I have a few nice 70's/80's GM dually chassis that I am using on future projects, they work great because they are so narrow that they quite often fit the 30's and 40's bodies, and the frame will pop through the factory bumper bracket slots, I use a 77 Chev chassis on my 36 GMC, and I have an 86 Dually Chassis under my 46 Fargo right now.

NL7...have ya got any pics of the '46 Fargo???

It looks like you've got quite the collection of old iron around your place. (kinda place where I'd feel right at home.) :)

    NL7?... Oh that's me LOL!

The only photos I have of the Fargo is it in a mock-up stage, so it sits funny on the chassis due to the 86 Chev gas tank being in the way.

    Here is the Fargo.

Toyota Prius Hybrid driveline powered by sunshine and*****er-flies! :D

Currently it has just a 5 speed chev******* of some sort, I got the 86 Form a buddy that owed me money, and it had no engine when I got it (better then getting nothing right?) A local wants me to build this truck for him now, unless I can find a pre 46 Chev/GMC/Maple Leaf body to drop on instead of the Fargo as he is a GM guy and he wants a 4 bolt 350 dropped in.

LOL, I'm usually the one transposing words and numbers, so don't worry about I just spent a good 10 seconds wondering who NL7 was before it hit me lol, I have too many projects out here if anyone wants to help me out by buying some off of me so I can focus on just a few of them instead?

Back to COE's, did I ever post thins one? (it lives local to me)

"A Toyota Prius Hybrid driveline powered by sunshine and*****er-flies?" Oh I just want to go hug a tree and kiss a bunny! BARF! lol
Sounds like it would be a cool project, I always like those old Fargos. I can imagine the reaction of some tree hugger if that truck pulled up to tow his p.o.s. econobox.:D
