I kinda like the taillamp openings (except the "crunched" side) could almost picture '57 Olds' housings in there for some reason. Oddly enough, the car comes with another stock rear clip if someone is interested in buying it. I didn't ask how much because those "Madonna" front fender caps were too much for me!!

The suspension is '49-'51 Merc. The car appears to be what is left of a 1950 Merc. 2 dr.

Thanks for posting the pictures, I love old 50's built kustoms, ugly or not. It has some
potential. It would take a lot of boby work and you would need to correct some of the
design flaws. Can you imagine it with a stock front and rear fenders with mild kustom
work? It would be kool to see it on the road.

    Happy Trails, Mick

How quality is the work? Can't really bash on some guys unfinished vision. Never know what it might have ended up as. Mercs are cool, but seriously how many hirohata(sp?) clones do we need?

Has a rigid rear suspension with angle irons welded to the axle housing and frame rail:)

That was my thought. If you saved the middle, put an original but mild custom nose on it and closer to stock 51 rear quarters on it the thing has potential. Turn it into more of what a concept car for the big auto shows in 49 or 50 might have looked like.

Great vision. If ya' want it. . .call Denny at 712-262-7449 or 712-260-3278. Tell him the guy with the '31 Ford Coupe sent cha'!!

As I said in a previous post, there was a complete '49/'50 rear clip sitting in front of it that I would imagine would go with.

    Good Luck!!

I blew it up, but I cant really see the welds. I don't think he was going for a rigid rear suspension though. If so he would have probably used tubing instead of angle iron. whenever I see something set up with angle iron, I immediately think bracing. That's how I was taught to do it.
I seriously doubt that someone that wwent to those extremes with the rest of the work would have the rear end premanently held in place by some butt welded angle iron...

  13. Looks to me like they were going to do '56 Packard taillights - 2 on each side, bottom one turned upside down. The shortened 3-window top is pretty radical, I would think if it was ever finished it has to be in a magazine somewhere just on the basis of that alone. Is the car shortened, or just the top and deck lid slid ahead?

I think done it would be a neat piece, not sure that tail design flows well with the rest but who knows what they actually planned for it. Could just as easily been planning something like a '58 T-bird or similar front bumper as leaving the fenders open.

The rearend setup sounds like they set it at the planned ride height while doing the work on the back of it.
