Me and the little one fly to michigan on thursday. I will be there on saturday with pops for the whole day. Cant wait. Its been quite a few years since I have been, and that was pre HAMB-ucated. My eyes will be loking very differently this time.

Well mine is all polished up and ready to DRIVE to Detroit tomorrow morning with an overnite stop at my sons in Chicago. I'll be there Wednsday the good lord willing and the snow plows getting rid of the between 6 inches here ( and still snowing) and a bunch more further south.

It will be a mess by the time I get there, I hope there is a hose to wash my car.

You're a ruler Bob, no doubt! I just couldn't see riding a hundred twenty miles in the snow and ice with knobbies! There's usually a garden hose and an area to wash off your car just outside one of the exit doors downstairs.

I was kinda hoping for an indoor one, washing it in 30 degree weather leaves something to be desired. I'm a wimp ya know.

Its sort of inside, out of the wind at least. When you come in off Atwater Street and go into the basement you turn left and head out that door. It leads to a shipping/receiving area. Its not really inside the building but at least there are walls and a roof over your head. You'll be fine:D

A friend just called me from Kananada and told me that there is one on the main floor just to the left of the main entrance, seems to me that Denise mentioned that a while back but I had forgotten that. If that is true, to quote Moriarity.

    I'VE GOT IT MADE !!!!!!!

If I can find one of those touch free car washes I'll run it through there, the only place it leaks is a very little bit where the top of the door windows meet the rubber weather strip on the convertible top. I may do that if I have time and can find a nice one. That would also clean the undercarriage.

See everyone on Wednsday, my move in time is 1pm.

good luck on the touch free wash in Detroit!
    Ha,
We took a friends car in a couple of years ago upstairs, we were told NO WASH OFF!!! We had to get a bucket and go to a sink to get water, it was horse*****....he has a really nice car.

This was my reason to look into trailering the wagon, last time I helped a guy there wasn't a place to clean the cars.
As of this morning oakland county is a freaking ice skating rink...I sure hope it changes, see everybody Tomorrow!!!

Hey if ya like there are several hand car washes near downtown. Might have to take your friends Smith and Wesson with ya , but if you roll down Gratiot I am sure you would find one. Lucky Lucky77 said there are a couple hoses near the load in the basement. It's blocked good from the elements. Give it a quick scrub and wipe down and finish up inside.

Looks like that is my option unless I can find one in the Burbs on my way in.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I went out to put the charger on the '36 battery in the trailer so I'd be sure it'd start in the frigid weather (it's 12 degrees right now in SW MI) when I get to Cobo this afternoon, and shouldn't have been surprised to find the trailer doors were frozen shut. And the pickup was still encased in ice, and 5" of frozen snow under that. I had to get the heat gun out and thaw out the doors of the trailer, then do the same with the truck.

I'm in now, the truck started right up, the battery in the roadster should be topped, off, all the tires are aired up, and I have the spare and a small floor jack in the trailer. I THINK I've thought of everything, now I just have to throw my clothes in the truck, take a shower and I'm off.

    See everybody there!

True that! ;) I'm looking out the window of my sisters place in A2 (Ann Arbor), the wind is blowing and three inches of new snow from last night whipping around. No problem getting downtown (thanks, Sis!), but I'm still a bit concerned about getting the car(s) home on Sunday. Maybe somebody has a garage I could leave the wagon in if the roads are bad?

More later when I can post some pics...

    Brian

And for the numbskull who called me out for trailering the '36, lets see YOUR tow car,****hole!

I thought I should make one last entry to this thread as I did make the first one. This was an adventure that was four years in the making. I have been many times to the Detroit Autorama but always as a spectator. This year we showed the "Ghost Rider Roadster" for the first time and I must say it was worth all of the effort and then some. The many people we met and talked to at Cobo, at the hotel, at Cobo Joe's ( did you see the flame throwing gals? WOW!!!) just to mention a few places, really made it for us. Sure, the cars were great but there is so much more to the Detroit Autorama than just the cars !!!! It was an experience that my son Myles and I, will never forget. Thanks to all of the people who made this happen, we do appreciate it all :)

Seems every time my golf cart stopped on the overnights,... It was with a good view of your car :),...... I kept pointing it out to the rest of the staff that liked traditional Hot Rods (actually to the ones that didn't like traditional Hot Rods as well ),.... It was VERY well received !

And in my opinion,... The Detroit Autorama, as well as other shows need more of these very high quality, Traditional Hot Rods in attendance. IMHO

What a AWESOME HOT ROD !!!!:D
