Winter here just won't quit, and this thread may very well get me burned... But I gotta ask this to people who could actually answer it.

What kind of engine/camshaft/exhaust combo would put out a sound like the drum beat into to Van Halen's song' Hot for Teacher'?

At lunch we had this discussion again, did they get that beat from a V8 with a cam or an ankle injury...

    Anyone?

The snow will melt in a couple of months, and you'll be able to find the garage again.

  7. Gave my girlfriends musician son a ride in the Rocket Sled Roadster and when I was around 900 rpm's he looked at me and started singing "Hot For Teacher"... and it was Dead On!

It was a 468 Olds with a 545 lift Lunati cam and baffled straight pipe!

I didn't realize it, but yeah, it sounds very Harley-like. Ask a question, get an answer. I like it.

30% Nitro, zoomies, and turning the pump on all the way will get you that solo everytime! :D

I had a SBF comp at 10:5.1 with 351w ported heads. lunati .488lift bracket master II straight duration cam with hooker super comps. Wife could swear that car was what they used on the record.

    Shovel or Pan...

  19. HAHA weird thread. Not sure if you want the real answer or not but the beat is actually based on a shuffle which was around long before any of the afore mentioned V8's:D

  20. When I had my 64 Ford it was running a 351W, dual exhaust with no crossovers, and shorty mufflers (bout 12 inches long maybe?) which were less than a foot from the exhaust tips.

Ended up sounding exactly like a Harley, and your VH drum beat.

If you're lucky I might just tell you how I made my garbage disposal sound like the intro to Metallica's Enter Sandman as well!

Exactly! Same beginning as Crue's Girls,Girls,Girls which was Nikki Sixx's Five kings shovelhead chop!

Anyone know if this was actually a 409? Don't mean to take the thread o/t but we're already started about cars in songs...

    <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xKKP_cZuk54" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Oh in case anyone didn't know, since this is a thread about VH, the car that revs in the middle of Panama was EVH's Countach

Looked like a Bel Aire to me, could have a 409 in it, but they didn't show that.
