Found an old chrysler grill in the back of the garage today and just set in in place I think I can work with it.

    im starting to like it!

  3. Bumper needs to be higher. Maybe a thinner bumper with a bigger grille opening so it intersects it. Those headlights just dominate that front end.

Now that I see it with the headlights in place and the revised grille opening, I really like it. I like the Chrysler grille bar in there too, with a little work that'll look right at home and it fills the hole nice. I think you're really on to something now.

After lots of welding and grinding finally got the sheetmetal finished and the grill fitted.

The dual canted headlights are overpowering and tooooooo large for the front of the car. Smaller is better. Also, try turning the bumper upside down.

Here's a quick one that should help to give you an idea of what it might look like...

hmmm...looks a bit better ...the centre section needs to point down .The way it is in Jays pics. That way it matches the grille. I'd bend the middle section down to till the bottom edge of the bumper runs in a constant line right across....just my.02 :):)

I'm liking it myself. I think once it's all said and done and filled etc it'll look kick ass. What r the plans for the rear tails? Not stock I'm assuming?

Rob wants to put his .02 in. Barring the fact that I can not photoshop or draw LOL, he is suggesting to bring the grill opening out farther under the headlights and maybe tighten the radius in at the top curve a bit (cant draw that) but I put a line in at the bottom to give you an idea, (left side) possibly someone could photoshop it for you. this will help to fill in some space and make the headlights not appear so out of proportion. He said he likes what your doing and he has built 3 lincolns. He said he likes the bumber the way it is because it gives you one straight line across the bottom of the grill. He likes the direction your taking it but the change in the grill will take some of the bulkiness out of the front of the car. you can go to my page to see our 54 lincoln. He doesn't do computers but if you would like to talk to him on the phone let me know.
We have always been in love with 52-54 Lincolns and he would be more than willing to talk to you if you want. He said to tell you nice metal work!!

Just a quickie with the proposed grille shape change. I left it empty because any change like this would require a change in the center treatment.

I was doing some playin around with PhotoShop and the center treatment in the larger opening you have in this last pic. it doesn't look right because the grill piece would have to float with that big of an opening. I do like the larger shaped opening though...it proportions the front look better IMO. I also really like the contrasting angles of the lights and the larger opening together like that...very nice!

I don't get why everyone thinks the bumper needs to be turned over, the way it is now matches the upper bar in the Chrysler grille, it looks right. The slightly more triangular grille opening might be OK, again, it would follow the shape of the top grille bar and the bumper (assuming you don't flip it over) but I don't know if that's necessary.

Overall I really like where this is going, I like the big headlights, sure they're big and in your face, but that's the point. It's a custom.

Mesh with drawer pulls in it kinda like windfield used in several cars would work good in that car I think. Just my .02.............Jim

just being a custom doesn't mean BIG and in your FACE is correct, subtle is better!!! A Custom should flow and look like it was built that way.
I am not saying this Lincoln is bad, I am just saying what a well built Custom should look like. Proportions must be correct to achieve this look.
    thats My .02 ;)

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday! Please remember that this is the only drawer pull grille picture I had, and its tough to fit it properly to the proposed opening. If you do decide to go this route, yours will look much better. I really think that if you choose to make the opening larger and more trapezoidal, this treatment would look perfect!

That is the best look so far I think. But its not my car so do whatever you want with it....Jim

Man those headlights are just friggin huge! I cant get over them! Maybe a split bumper too...hell I dont know.....just something to draw some attention away from the headlights a bit would be good in my opinion.

Just my opinion, but the headlights are way too big and throw everything else out of whack because all you want to do is stare at the dead space around the sealed beams, making them smaller sure would make the entire front end look cleaner. But, to each their own.

OK, I put the bumper back to its original position and tried to paint over where the Lincoln script was removed- I think it was kind of distracting me from getting the overall picture.
