those green lenses are old cab marker lights off of a ambulance, or so im told. never seen any others like them though?
Here's a link to my build thread. It's really a Fairlane but, you can't really tell the differances between the 61 Galaxies and Fairlanes besides different options and rooflines on different optioned cars.(starliner, sunliner, victoria, ect.) This is a great thread. There's alot of really nice Galaxies on here. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=536656 sorry that i forgot to paste the link. oops fixed!
Howdy! I'm not into SHINNY .. Don't get me wrong it's PRETTY but it's not me.. In fact I took all the chrome off my 63 Ford Galaxie500.. I'm putting a tear drop hood scoop ,lakepipes and 16''Centerline wheels,Just rebuilt the 352 bored it 40 over pu a RV cam in it has all the lope I wanted with out spending major bucks that I don't have.. I have picture of her on my page..
It's so wild to see the steering wheel on the right side. . . . nice car too by the way, do you still see it around ?
My Galaxie at the dragstrip. I race all my hot rods at Bandimere, this ones relatively slow. I bought the car in '92 missing front fender and 1/4 panel trim, otherwise a complete survivor. The car is an XL w/ pretty good original ivy gold interior. Body paint appears to be original as well. White on ivy gold is an unusual combo, ivy gold normally went in green cars. It's the 300 HP 390 and the only major mod is replacing the Ford O Matic w/ a C6. I've kept the car as original as possible and tried to keep it in late 60's- early 70's muscle car trim. 63-64 XL Galaxie interiors w/ the bucket seat/ center console combo is arguably the nicest interior Ford (and most other manufacturer's) ever produced.
Agreed that the XL interiors of '62-'64 Galaxies are nice. My son and I have a '63 Country Squire with factory XL interior. I'm in the process of replacing the original 352 with a tried & true 390-4V with C6OZ-B(GT390/CJ/PI, etc.) camshaft along with a tried & true C-6. Just finished installing rebuilt and improved leaf springs, brakes, and a 3.25 geared differential. Check out my albums for pics of our '63 Country Squire "XL" and my '60 Sunliner 352HP-360 horse car that has run 14.5/100 mph at the local strip. And it weighs 4,190lbs.! Add in my 230 lbs shifting the stock 3 speed column controlled shifter and that's not bad for two tons +.
The Twins- The Evil Twin, original paint 406-6V, manual steering & brakes XL. Presently running a 427-8V, C6 w/4000 converter and 5.14's- ever ride in a big-block car with 5.14's? The Croozer Twin, ragtop XL, 390-4V, soon to be with another 427 and an FMX-Cruiso cross-breed and 3K TCI converter
2ton, that's a good looking 64. I have two 64's at the moment, and really like them. I can help with the quarter trim as well, Eric
My 64 with steelies/small caps and 8" rims in back. I wanted to buy a guys 62 and put this exact wheel/tire combo on it as well but he sold it right from under me knowing I wanted it all this time and would have gave him more than he sold it for (yeah, still a sore subject if you can tell)! Also tried a set of Cragars on it for a while from my dad's car. Just last week I finally tried these polished aluminum slots for that classic late 60's/70's look.
