Largest Attended "Cruise Night" - in country?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by fordstandard, Feb 27, 2011.

  1. I'm wondering what part of the country draws the most cars on a regular basis for a Cruise Night.

Lets say over 400 cars or more.

    * I'm amazed at how large this hobby is and how well attended events are - Terrific !

  2. There's a church in Wexford, Pa. (near PGH.) that has as many as 1,500 to 2,000 "cars" ( I use that term losely:rolleyes:) every Friday night during the summer.
I was there once, too many rows of new Camaros, Mustangs and Neons.
They do get a large HAMB looking turnout though.

Whiskey Cafe, Lyndhurst, NJ. Every saturday night, May through late fall. 300-400 cars. Fortunately this year the Non HAMB friendly cars are being pushed to the side lots. It was turning into gold chainer hell. (This is North Jersey.)
Also. Its not the biggest. (40 cars on a good night) But every tuesday evening. Rutts Hut, in Clifton, NJ is killer. Slim

Got to agree Wexford is a big cruise has a large selection of "vehicles".
Only problem I have is its on friday if you work and don't get there before 5pm you'll most likely have to park in the upper over flow lot. Went for my first time last year it was raining and they still got a ton of cars. Norwin Hills Cruise (east of Pittsburgh in Irwin PA) Avg Saturday nite 200 -300 cars but there have been times when the count tops 400 +. Starts in early April and goes till the snow flies  Lot5a of good people just hanging out talking cars :D

bass pro shop in foxboro, ma (near gillette stadium, home of the pats) gets 1,500-2,000 cars, and about 500-700 motorcycles each cruise. it's huge. you couldn't possible see them all. 'course, there are plenty not worth looking at. unless you lust after rows and rows of new mustangs and vettes. still, plenty of good stuff too. i usually go a couple times each summer. it's scheduled every two weeks on thursday. but i don't bother going to each one.

there's another one that takes place on the opposite thursdays from bass pro, in easton, ma, and that gets 500+ cars each time too. it's a little more limited by space, so it couldn't possibly get as big as bass pro.

lots of good cruises here in MA if you are into that sort of thing. but i find myself enjoying the drive so much that i often just roll on by...

I heard the Monmouth, IL. cruise night drew nearly 2,000 cars last year but it was a total zoo last time I went. Too many local hoodlums on skateboards and bikes and no respect for other people's property. Guess I'm just gettin' old.

Now I just sit on the front porch and watch them on their way to and from the cruise. No crowds of mouth breathers to push through, cold beer just a few steps away and a comfy chair plus I get to HEAR the cars.

  9. When i visited Scottsdale Az few months ago- I saw this dude ride by me in his Motorized Lay-Boy chair at a 900+ car cruise night there.

I think the biggest year round one I've ever been too has to be the Scottsdale pavillions in Arizona.

  18. Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie, Md. gets 400+ on a nice Sat. evening in the Summer months. I think the designated lot holds 400 and they usually get some spillover into adjacent areas.

Mornings are fun too.... CarsnCoffee is a huge monthly (1st Saturday) morning meet up in Plano, Texas.. year round. As you can see from the picture, this day I parked in a sea of european cars, Ferrari's and Porsche's and Maserati's... and there are lots of Mustangs and Vette's too. Always find plenty of classic old American rides as well. It starts bright n early in the AM and is reported to be over 500 cars. Spring Creek @ the Tollway, Plano.

Bear mountain, NY. Very big, not much HAMB'ers. 800 to 1000 cars every Wed. and 500+ bikes in another section. Separate vette and mustang lots, too, so you don't have to see them.

I'm probably one of the few who doesn't get excited about going to the largest cruise night, car show or what not. I'd rather go to a low pressure cruise night with a hundred or so really nice cars than attend a big open event with a thousand cars most of which are so so tag alongs.

Cruisin on Main in the historic main street downtown area of Manchester, CT attract thousands of cars 1985 and older every summer. they usually have 1500-2500 vehicles and over 20,000 spectators. Its always a good crowd there and i have never seen anyone being disrespectful around the cars. kids are always closely watched, etc. Its a once a year thing and it is HUGE. Good food, good people, and great cars. You will see everything from classic Model A's to original patina cars, vintage drag cars, gassers, hot rods, customs, muscle cars, vintage tow trucks, vintage fire trucks, etc. you name it; it's there. Mostly pre 1965 stuff though
