Just got word....a '32 Sedan project was stolen from Jeff Kinsey's (Hot Rod's by JSK) house in Cumby Texas. Sometime last night, or during the day today.

The car was in a small motorcycle trailer, just big enough to fit the car, and was not there for moving but just temporary storage. Jeff had been building the car for Don Smith. It was only tied down with a couple small straps as it was not intended to be hauled anywhere, just kept from moving. As common of late, they just grabbed the trailer as is and took off. So the car has probably sustained some damage already...

It is chopped, and has been converted to a delivery. It is still in primer...but it's about $65k worth of hot rod, especially if you know the kinds of cars Don has built.

If/when I get pictures of the car or trailer, or any more information (plate numbers, etc.) I will post them. Trying to get the word out as quick as possible. Keep and eye out!!! Thanks.

man, we gotta quit leaving these things in trailers-that's all the thieves are after 99% of the time.

sucks man, hope it finds it's way home asap!

Pictures of the trailer are the key. If the car is inside a garage or shop being cut up or stripped the trailer will likely be outside...I'd look for the trailer.

With the creeps (can I call 'em creeps? Every time I say something like that, somebody gets 'offended') that were caught with the '49 Chevy last week, I don't think this is for a quick Craigslist sale.
Please show the trailer, and everyone look for it. Alleys, fenced yards next to buildings, inside large open doors.
God help you find this. I'll BET it's not insured...

  10. I'll second that motion - this has just gotten insane with so many people getting cars stolen.

  11. My guess that this is someone that knew the car was in the trailer plus knowing where Jeff lived...Cumby,Texas is very small town on the side of the interstate,,No major exit for gas and stuff...
Jeffs shop is on the service road and can be seen AFTER passing the exit..But as is stated here,it was at Jeffs house and not he shop..someone knew the details on this is my belief..my2c

I would guess/think that someone was after the trailer and didn't know or care that there was a car inside. The theft rate on just about any kind of trailer that will haul stuff is high and it seems to be higher in Texas.
But it sure doesn't hurt for everyone there and other places to keep their eyes and ears open for info on the car.

Won't help here but maybe if you have a trailer sitting out you should put a good hitch lock on it.

  16. I go one step further & take the wheels of mine & put it on blocks. Not gonna advertise where I store the wheels. Usually park something in front of it when I can.

    from somewhere

we never leave a trailer just sitting without a good hitch lock on it or something parked in front of it/behind it to prevent it from going anywhere. We do the same with carring 4-wheelers, etc on the back of a pickup. hope they find it...good luck

Is there a GPS device that we can put in our cars and trailers? I found this on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Zoombak-ZMBK200-Advanced-Family-Locator/dp/B0014J61GI

I'm sure a lot of people would purchase them....my friend uses one on his coon dogs ...all five dogs on just one unit!!!!!!!! Takes us right to the tree!!! And he leaves an extra collar in the truck so we can find are way back!!

Eventually if more people used them and these thieves got caught this stuff may stop!

Good news, bad news, good news...

Police found the trailer.......but it was empty.

But they have the guy who was in possession of the trailer, who is a supposed "crackhead". And they (the authorities) have a pretty good idea that this person knows what happened to the car....and it's probably just a matter of time.

Still no pictures of the car though.

A GPS tracking unit on trailers sounds like a very good idea.

fuck the trailer! put it in the car!!!

  28. I want to be on this jury when the guy comes to trial.

  29. I wonder how many of these cars end up in another country? It seems to be an epidemic.
Hackers, child molesters and car thieves. Shot em.

  30. This is scary. I am going to start taking the keys out of the 89 Olds tomorrow.

Trying to figure out who took the car makes you suspicious of everybody. It wrecks the mind.
