My buddy told me about this run last week,so I figured I would go again this year. I took StudebakerDave,in the Hot Rod last year, but he couldn't go this year,so I called JustplainJ,and he came along. There were about 50-60 cars, maybe. Not as many as last year though. Ramrod2426 was there when I parked in his newly painted '41 Pick-up. I first saw it in one of the buildings at the GNRS. It sure looks great!!! R Cole was there also. Always great to chat with Ron. Missed my buddy,Craig(CW's40tpu)this year.

It started at the same shop as last year,Richards Hot Rod Repair,in Long Beach. Here's some of the cool stuff in his shop...

Some of the cars outside.....that's Ron Cole's '40 Coupe on the end

I have seen a 40 4 door sedan convertible only once at the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville last year (Annual Fest in Oct with over 150 "moonshine era" cars - 30's and 40's Fords plus a huge 500+ cruise in for other cars) Anyway, I really do regret not taking pictures of it, but it was the first one for both me and my grandfather. He had never even seen one and he and his dad were Ford lovers.

Great pics Bob. I would love to know more about the wood buck project. It looks very much like Frank Lockhart's Stutz Black Hawk streamliner that he died in on Daytona beach in 1927. I had heard that someone was going to do a clone.

yes it's the clone of the stutz, for jim lattins collection. it looks like jeb is building the body, i was talking to jim a couple months back and he mentioned looking for someone to do the body, i don't really know jeb but i told him about the work i've seen come out of his place and to give him a call, looks like he did, can't wait to see it finnished. the frame was built by rick down at lattins place.

great pictures bob, looks like a fun day

Thanks for the picts! We clocked 170 miles from home and back with only a loose wheel bearing on the phaeton. My son is still cold (damm LA weather, no top and 39 when we left the house). Nothin beats a day with your son in a hot rod.

42 years on this run, any other runs close?

  29. Was the first shop Richard Graves rod shop? Nice stuff. Always enjoy your photo journeys Bob. Thanks, Pat.
