LOL, BlueMoose! Yeah, I remember well the jingle
and THE BELL at the end! The commercials used
to air during "American Bandstand" in our Cleveland
TV market in the late '50s. THANKS for the memory,
    bro!

Completed in 1941, Howard Hughes' "The Outlaw" sent film censors scurrying and practically
overnight made 20-year-old siren Jane Russell the two biggest stars in Hollywood! Bob Hope
quipped that "culture is the art of describing Jane Russell without using your hands." I doubt
that most male ticket buyers even noticed that Thomas Mitchell, Jack Buetel and Walter Huston
were even in the movie! Though Hughes battled censors, eventually putting the film into gen-
eral release in 1946, even he couldn't deny that the contrived Western plot was just a good ex-
cuse to showcase the 38D assets of the statuesque (5', 7") starlet! Even though Hughes caved
and removed about 30 seconds of film, the '46 release was still banned in many local commun-
ities. This original poster image is presented here for information, discussion and in tribute to
a unique human being, THANKS to Wikipedia and is used under fair-use rationale. They note
that it may not be republished for any commercial purpose. Fair enough. But farewell, Jane!

So we don't forget that the 50's were just cool music and cars...

    Atlas D rocket.
The SM-65 Atlas was a U.S. missile designed by the Air Force Ballistic Missile Division and built by the Convair Division of General Dynamics. It was the first American intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of boosting a nuclear warhead to any target on Earth. The first Atlas to be flown was the Atlas A in 1957–1958

Thank GOD for the dedication of our men and women, both in uniform and in industry, serving this country, both now and in the past.

Rest in peace Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell. You will be missed sweetheart.

  9. RIP,Miss Russell.

My taste in woman was influenced by my father's. Jane Russell,Gene Tierney(ooooh!) and the like were his faves. Stunning women;nothing today(OK;maybe Christina Hendricks...) compares.

Thanks, guys. What I respected about Jane was that she had a sharp mind, not just lood looks. Sure, she knew how to play the "star" game and had a little fun doing that. Sex symbol or not, when she and her husband couldn't have children, they adopted three (same as your own, after all), and Jane started a foundation to promote adoption. Her children, then, gave her several grandchildren and some 10 great-grandchildren.

Damn! I love a happy ending. Never lacking for an opinion, loquacious Jane Russell, I'll bet, did too!

I miss diners that had big letters spelling EAT on them, in todays world you'd probably get sued if you put up that word.

    Looks like a 35 Dodge.

Tough angle, but I'm thinking one of the minor independents. Maybe '34 Hupp, Terraplane? Last chance, Packard.

Doesn't look like a Pierce, REO, Graham, GM, Ford or MoPar to me. Hupp or Terraplane?

Probably not as sued as you would be if you put up a sign that said:

    E-A-T

    I--C-O-M-M-A-N-D--Y-O-U-,--G-O-D-D-A-M-M-I-T-!

I've got some Terraplanes, they are pretty different to this, not likely a Hupp, I still say Dodge (I've owned several) it's those belt lines atthe back of the body and the shape of the fenders that make me think that.

I promise you, if I ever open a Diner or a restaurant i will put that sign up! :D

Now thats how I remember stores being growing up. Even supermarkets had peddal cars on high shelfs like that. Farmer Freds Market, Florence & California in Huntington Park Ca. is where my peddler was from :).

I need the rubber seals for my windshield and rear window, and I would like better 12M tail lights, or some 15M tail lights with the little hood at the top, maybe some 15M headlight rings too (the ones that look like 56 Chrysler)

If it's not too much trouble to find out what he would want for stuff like that if he has them, I would greatly appreciate it!

    Oh wow, I'm in love!

LN37, sounds as though you have an enviable statsh of oldies, buddy! I was typing while you were posting, so my WRONG post registered after you. As I said, angle was giving me a hard time and I'm more familiar with the Dodges and Plymouths with the trunk hump. Yup, I'll buy Dodge! THANKS, always fun to try and ID the oldies.

Twin, yeah, man. Isn't it funny how many times on this thread we've reflected upon a star of the past, and sometimes within the month -- even days -- they pass away. Leslie "Naked Gun" Nielsen and Anne "Honey West" Francis spring to mind! I'd like to think that it's some sort of paranormal phenomenon, wherein WE pay a small tribute while they are still alive. I know that's just fancy, but it does make me feel better, knowing that these people, now aged, really WERE NOT FORGOTTEN in their twilight years!

Who knows? Maybe someone let them know about their HAMB celebrity before they passed on? And maybe they smiled, knowing that members of the Hokey Ass Message Board cared! LOL

rbantique posted this item from an old mag on another thread, and
I laughed so hard, I had to post it here! Anybody who had a sister
into Barbie in the '50s and '60s knows why this spoof is spot on!
