Is this your car? If so, the top photo answered one of my questions. I was going to run long-tube headers..they fit nicely, until I tried to attach my steering column. Block huggers it is. PM me if it is your car, I have Hilborn questions...thanks.

To the OP: I'm running a '93 Mustang 5.0 H.O. in my car. If that motor can make a Mustang scream, think of what it'll do to your 36. Car Craft magazine did an article about it a while back. I'm in a rush, or I would post it. SEARCH in here for CAR CRAFT and 302...I've posted the link a few times. 400 HP with a stock bottom end. Nice.

I LOVE that '32 with the injected 302. Wow!

Here's mine. It's been a great motor. You can guess what it is in... :D

You'll have to cut the firewall for sure, especially if you want a mechanical fan. I used a Bitchin firewall. If I had it to do over again, I would have modified the stock firewall. Seemed like a good idea at the time though.

Great, reliable motor. Speed parts are a little more than SBC but hey at least the exhaust pipes are evenly spaced!

Have built and run SBF engines since the 60's in everything from a 60 Falcon to a Sunbeam Tiger.

    Here's my 36 3 window with a SBF.

This time I let Jack's boys build the EFI 342 stroker motor.

    The car is pretty quick.

You will need to use the deeper 5" recessed firewall.

And a Cooling Components fan and shroud fits behind the Walker radiator.

As you can see there is plenty of room on the sides with the Sanderson block hugger headers.

    Good Luck

Not if you use the Ford Motorsports shorty water pump kit or the kit from Snow White Ltd. in Fresno CA....

I got a pair of stock iron GT-40 heads in the garage and I'll try to snap a few pictures of those in the next couple of days plus a few other odd 'n ends...

Great engines, run forever very stout bottom end. Make it interesting, put on a set of closed chamber Cleveland heads and make a mock Boss!

Why would anyone & most everyone try to compare the 302 Ford with the SBC 327 & 350 ? Fords comparison motor would be the 351 Windsor ! It's not complicated 351 & 350 a correct match. Compare the 302 with the 305 SBC & now it's a correct match. Apples to Apples

Boss 302 with Cross Boss manifold and Autolite inline carb using the Snow White pump. Still a tight fit but can be done.

    Edelbrock Performer R.P.M.

  24. OK...thanks. I had an Edelbrock F4B (high-rise dual plane) on mine last year and loved it, but I installed a (Ford style) HEI distributor and it hit the front intake runner so I had to switch to a low-rise dual plane (a perfomer 289). I lost alot of torque making that change. The front runner on the F4B goes to the #4 cyl, but the Performer goes to the #1 cylinder. I thought yours looked like a high-rise dual plane that might work on mine, but I think the RPM is almost identical to the 289.

  26. Here is my 302 in my 56. It is a 93 with a Ultradyne custom ground hyd. roller, modified heads, 86 Mustang serpentine system, ugly, ugly, ugly but very functional and simple GM HEI ignition. Ran really strong with the F4B, but as mentioned in the earlier post, I lost alot of torque when I switched to a Performer 289. If anyone has any suggestions for a different intake, I am open to any ideas.

I also have run SBF in most of my cars and trucks. Not a great choice for a heavy car or towing, but a 5.0L will move a early rod just fine. My current RPU has an explorer 5.0 with stock GT heads, E-303 cam (about as much lift as practical with stock springs and pistons), shorty headers and hot dizzy/ignition. Oh, and a 3/2 Blue oval set-up.

Couple of notes - these engines get plugged up in dizzy and front main bearing oil galleys if they don't get regular oil changes (high mileage). Just look into the lifter valley BEFORE you buy it, if possible. Don't ask how I learned that!

And they are longer than a SBC with most stock belt accessory set-ups.

Wieand Stealth seems to be the best torque and top end compromise.

Yep, I've read that the Weiand Stealth is the one to use. I have one I'll be using on my Model A Roadster. Also have an extra Performer RPM that is a good intake for the SBFs.
