I had the carb rebuilt and changed the oil. Now the truck starts and rums fine for a few minutes then wants to die. Only way of keeping it going is to "rev it up" what do i need to do?
I would check for a vacuum leak. The choke can overcome it but it will be too lean after the choke comes off.
it's running too rich. make sure you don't have a stuck float. it's better to rebuild carbs yourself rather than send them out.
I tried adjusting the air fuel needles and raising the idle. Still wants to die. I think the tank is fine.
What engine? What carb? I ***ume it ran badly before you had the carb rebuilt. If you have any vacuum leaks on the intake manifold gaskets or carb base the fuel mixture will be lean. You can often find the leak by spraying a little starting fluid around the gasketed surfaces with the engine running. On the V-8, the vacuum leak may be internal. If the carb was rebuilt properly, you still have some adjustments to make and the rebuilder should have provided instructions.
More than likely you have a bad line after the filter or no filter at all and deposits in the line are coming lose and lodging the needle off of the seat letting fuel into the fuel bowl when it shouldn't be which causes the engine to flood. There should be a round flat head screw in the p***enger side of the fuel bowl, pull this and then idle the vehicle and if fuel comes out without slightly rocking the vehicle either the float level is too high or what I previously mentioned is happening. Good luck, carburetors are like black majic for some people.
I just did my Motorcraft 2100 Friday it took about an hour. I just sprayed it down with a ton of carb cleaner, Rebuilt Engines it and put it back on. Champ when it runs. used transmissions
