You forgot to mention what tonnage so we can figure out the bolt pattern. If it is a half ton, look to Jeep, Ford, or Dodge 5 lug x 4.5" bolt pattern wheels. A 3/4 ton like mine with the large six BP is a special order.

Crewcabs were regular options. Some came with three doors, most came with four. Same thing with the Travelalls - three, four doors were available at the dealer. I think six and eight doors were special order for airport taxis.

put new brakes, fuel, brake, and clutch lines, fuel pump, filters, master cylinder, and a tuneup on the crew cab today and it runs like a champ. Just gotta replace two pieces of glass and I should be on the road.

That tailgate has the typical rust but looks fairly straight. I would try to save it till you find a better one.

  9. The body front face/grille panel on these just beg to be copping some creative metalwork.

  10. Here's some updated pics. I'm going for a vintage utility look.

Here's mine, picked up about 5 years ago. `68 (but stays On topic, as this was the last year for this body style that started around `63 or so). Last of the manufacturers to still appreciate curves in a P'up in 1968 - by this time, most other trucks had "slab-side" styling. Interiors are very easy to make your own, though as there was not much there, lots of metal, etc. Gauge panel comes out with a few screws, and most other mfgs fit right in there. Hoping to find a blockoff plate (since lots of them were fleet trucks they were plentiful), as that 80s era radio has just got to go.

I have since sunk a lot of time (and $) into correcting that steering setup. Last stage is to put an open-knuckle (73-87) GM front axle in there, which will get me front discs. The original brakes/drums on these are unobtainium. Dana 60 that's already out back will do just fine. Finally, I plan on putting on some more stock-appearing wheel/tire setup, much like BloodyKnuckles did above.

Working these trucks is a labor of love, as they do not have the aftermarket support of the Big 3. Mine was a town truck, originally the same color as the tractor next to it (also a `68 IH). It may go back to that color some day.

Just loaded this one up last weekend and brought it home. Barely fit on u-hauls biggest trailer! Picking up a new engine this weekend, should be ready to hit the road after a quick swap.

Just a note, absolutely no body work was done before paint. I just wanted uniform colors.

Here is mine at about 60% complete but driving. Body parts from a 67 pickup + a 68 Travelall transplanted onto a 96 GM Xcab.

had a recent college grad at work talk about the "innovation" of the Scion xB & Nissan Cube...I showed him a pic of a Scout, and his response was "cool...when do they start selling those?"

Baby Binder got some new shoes. :D

Next on the list is to lower it and get one color on it, even if it's primer. I'm thinking about only lowering the rear to give it a sorta gasser stance.
