Vintage shots from days gone by!

I grew up in North Bay Ontario and there was one of these trampoline places on Lakeshore Drive. I don't recall how much it was but my buddies and I could bounce ourselves silly for very little change. Lots of bruises for sure but lots of fun too. Nowadays you couldn't do this without your lawyer present.

Basically, "The Cisco Kid" was the Robin Hood tale recast in the Old West! From 1950 to '56, do-gooder desperadoes the Cisco Kid and his loyal sidekick (is there such a thing as a DIS-loyal sidekick?) Pancho rode across our TV screens for over 150 half-hour episodes on their trusty steeds, Diablo and Loco. Comic relief came in the formula of Pancho always getting in some pinch requiring Cisco's aid, as well as Pancho's endless butchering of English! Cisco was played by Duncan Renaldo and Pancho by Leo Carrillo. (Based on a 1907 short story, "The Caballero's Way" by O. Henry, "The Cisco Kid" was also a radio program, from 1942 to '55.)

Interestingly, when the series started production, Spaniard Reynaldo was already 46, no "kid," and Los Angeles native Carrillo was 70, and both had been in the entertainment business for years (Reynaldo, in fact, had played in three Cisco Kid" movies in the '40s, following earlier Ciscos, Warner Baxter and Cesar Romero!). Preceding even Desi Arnaz, Reynaldo and Carrillo were the first Hispanic TV stars. By '55, it was the most popular kids' filmed TV program, and it was the FIRST TV series to be shot in color (first in 16-mm, then 35-mm). Ironically, less than one percent of US households had color TV, even when the show completed its original run in early '56. And a decade later, only one in 10 had color TV! Probably because of the values taught the young audience, "The Cisco Kid" was nominated for an Emmy award. It surely couldn't have been for inventive plots, as "The Cisco Kid" always involved gun-play at its climax! LOL. Photo above is THANKS to westernclippings!

Had one of those, "Bouncaroo's" on Riverside Drive, Medford, Oregon in the early 60's. 25 cents an hour. Could jump on them for 4 hours straight, them walk 7 milrs home to the Ranch. Bet I couldn't do 3 minutes now! Fond memories. Crow. LFFL

 

There was a trampoline park near me till at least the mid 90's, I wonder if it's still there? I loved it as a kid!

Wow, that's a cool image! Who, what where, when, why?

 

The reality is that we show vintage photos we dig hard for. Then we talk about them or just appreciate (or not) and move on. The HAMB is a discussion forum, people post photos and talk about them. As Mazooma said before he had to go put most time into pursuing other obligations: Move on past anything you don't like and/or post something you think other HAMBers will enjoy.

As a group, we must be doing most things right, as we get a complaint now only about once a month.
