I made up 250 of these stickers to give to all that buy at least one chance at the Motor Meltdown 50/50 raffle... So if you buy a chance or 2 or 4 or 10, you get a sticker.

That's an old 318 in the pic, the one being melted is a late model.

 

Can we get one fri. at the "pre-party"?

 

I can bring the grid and you can pick a time there too I suppose... Unless you want to take a look at the engine beforehand... Sure.

 

I made it mandatory on the Paypal donation page to put in a shipping address, so that we can send you a thank you card... Does anybody feel weird about putting in their address? I'll take that off as a requirement if anybody does. I think it may have caused some problems when you are finishing up in Paypal.

Slick 50? It's 194k mile 318 from a 94 Dakota, all the motor honey in the world couldn't save this thing at 5000+ rpms. Bring your kevlar.

The "other" benefit that was being done for Sydne last Sunday didn't pan out like my sister thought it would... It's amazing how some people can give so selflessly (HotRodHabit) and others are so self-absorbed and selfish that they would use a little girls illness profit from and to aid in thier social standing... It's disgusting. I won't go into it any further.

So the conflict that my sister and Sydne had for Saturday night is gone, and they are going to try and make it up to Gainesville for Saturday. We'll have to see what bills come in in the next week and a half.

 

I like the grudge match thing. With the proceeds going to sydne I'm in for that. Hey mike do we place bets now or on saturday before the engine starts
Also your gonna start the engine and run it at 5000 or idle it. That's gonna be cool just to watch.

 

I'll have big sheets made up with 100 blocks on each sheet with times divided equally from say... Idano 1 minute up to 20 minutes... We'll have tickets, and your #(s), will be written in the blocks you choose.

If the engine lasts more than 20 minutes with no oil, no water and no radiator, running at 5000 rpm, the 100th block will be 20 minutes plus, the first block will be less than 1 minute... The 318 has 194,000 miles on it, after all...

We will sell all 100 blocks of the first sheet for $2.00 each...Before going onto the second sheet... That way there will be a money winner for each sheet, $100.00 winner for each sheet... If the sales for the first (or second, or third) sheet slow down halfway through, we might lower the chances to $1.00... But the winner will only get $50.00 for that sheet.

If the time the engine stops running on it's own is at or below the time in the block you choose, but above the next lower time, you win the sheet!!! (say the engine blows at 3:11 seconds... If you buy the 3:15 block, and the next lower block is 3:05, you win! that's a hypothetical #, I have NO idea how long it will last, Mopar fans say we may be there till July...)

The time will start when the engine reaches 5000 rpm, or full throttle (ahem, 194,000 miles...might not make it to 5000) We have no idea if this thing ever had Slick-50 in it, and if it makes any difference, there is no transmission on the engine... It was an automatic. if anything changes, like something breaks and we have to do something that might make it run longer, or shorter we'll let you know at the show...

Unless somebody can see a flaw with this system, please tell me... This IS my first time doing this.

Nobody will go home empty-handed if they participate in the Motor Meltdown by buying a block/blocks with a time/times in the 50/50 rafle... each participant will get one of these stickers I had made up...

My brother, Sydne's other uncle will be manning the booth...

I didn't really plan on that, but sure... I guess...

We figured since this thing has computer controlled FI, that we'd need to keep the wiring intact... and it's easier to roll around on 4 wheels so we just pulled the front doghouse off and "melt-prepped" the body with paint and over 4 million stickers... The throttle and ignition switch will be controlled from the back of the bed via aircraft cable.

Does anybody know if this thing will shut itself down because of a low oil sensor? of so, we're going to have to subs***ute a liquid in the crankcase... Water? Bleach? Pudding?

 

I havent found a low oil sensor. Those early 1990s mopar engine management systems are fairly unsophisticated. If there is an oil related shut-down, I'm sure we can fool it.

Also- does anyone know if 110v ac will be available in close proximity to where the motor melt will be set up?

 

I would say no... I thought we were going to roll it out to an unpopulated area and let 'er rip... if you need power BEFORE you we roll it out there, I'm sure we can run an extension cord from the building.

 

HRH says he got the engine running, but not well, yesterday... Tuning it up to run well today.

The breakdown of times to choose from are going to be 6 second intervals... Starting at 15 seconds, up to 9:57 minutes... (0:30, 0:36, 0:42... 9:54, etc.) then there will be a 10:00 plus block and a 20:00 plus block for you Mopar guys who think it'll last a lot longer than we think.
