All those limited class hydro pics can be seen at The Vintage Hydroplanes website: http://www.VintageHydroplanes.com
Sorry guys. I tried using the image code off my photobucket account and I could see the pics in my preview, but apparently, the pictures were moved, so let's try this again.
Ya got me Rick!....I wondered about that, whether some one would notice the roadster in the background....should have known better...The people here are really sharp....But you missed the Bird, its now Black....could have thrown you off...Early 70`s Detroit Autorama is where the picture was taken...because I bent that roadster up in 1972......
So, you guys. IF you know of any old race boats, or have any that you would like to bring to our show. I'd really appreciate if you'd shoot me an email asap. We are planning the set up for the show, and will have a nice designated area for all vintage boats! Thanks / Hank
Got a 54 Chris Craft sitting in the garage, just sold. Waiting for pickup. Beautiful mahogony, 331 Hemi... Ironic thing is that I tried on numerous occasions to sell it on here, only to get the ad pulled every time. Just curious as to how I can get my ad pulled then get educated on how a boat is not a hot rod, but a thread about boats is now pushing 300 hits. Lucky I'm not a "report" button happy, wannabe moderator like some folks. (...steps down from soap box...)
It's in the community Center section or send to web master; If you want to write it up I can post it for you with your contact info.................... http://www.network54.com/Forum/157337/
This showed up at our work car show last year. Holy cow! Built in California as a show boat and never has been in the water. One of 5 original hulls built. The engine was once at a colllege of some sort and after being bought was fully polished.
C'mon! Really? How could you NOT put that thing in the water? It would take a much stronger man than I!
FYI all you central Floridians... my car club is planning a cruise to Eustis for the Saturday evening car show on March 26th. That same weekend, there is a vintage boat show in Tavares and we plan a short stop there to check out the vintage wood. Gary See http://www.acbs-sunnyland.org/
So the owner said. Strictly a show boat someone built. Supposedly geared for about 150 mph too. That ought to get you up on some skiis!!

you can tell its getting close to summer .......someone had to bring up a boat thread lol...awsome boats..
Not mine (Saw it at a dealer here while looking at a fishing boat)...but holy crap is this a bad ass boat. Sudlow 14" hydroplane, built in 1948- Ford/Offenhauser flathead V-8 engine - Built in Lake Wawasee, Indiana -14', Originally black w/ gold stripe - So-Cal speed parts - Offenhauser heads. Too cool...
Fun watching this cool thread, but it break s my heart too. Our boat is not an old woodie, but it has towed two skiiers at 45 or so. 250 Chevy Merc-Marine Larson platform from 1976, two-owner. Due to the economy, we're gonna have to get rid of it, and I hate to just junk it. I wish I knew somebody who knew how to, at least, pull the marine engine and put an automotive distributor in it, stick it in a sleeper. The SOB runs strong. Reminds me of a lot of the ones-that-got-away threads, and it's not even gone yet. Can't afford the storage nowadways. Sigh.
heres a wooden one my dad has. its not a speed boat but its old. this was cherry when he gave it to my brother and this is what he did with it. i tried selling it but i guess its to far gone. pops says hes gonna take a chain saw to it just to get rid of it
