The main body above the side trim will be the darker color....my question would be....would you guys use the lighter color on the dash or the darker color?

 

To me a lighter dash tends to reflect light too much, and can make it a bit hard to see out the windshield.

The painter has the dash as we speak.......so we are trying color combos. Getting exciting but much more work from me before it happens.

What ever the hood and cowl will be the dash should too. SHould flow right inside the cab I think. And the statement about lighter colors reflecting light and making it harder to see is a good thought. Better to know that know then later haha!!!

Well....is the top going to also be the darker color? Or will it be the lighter color, for kind of a three-tone color scheme? Either way, I guess, I would go with the lighter color of the bottom of the body. For two reasons. One, to kinda break up all the darker color of the upper portion of the car, and two, to kinda tie in the two colors. (or tones of the same color?)

And true, a light color might reflect too much light. But, a lighter color, that's not necessarily 'light' would be nice......if you decided to go with the color combo that I think you went with.

Anyway, what do I know? All my cars have never advanced past the primer stage.

 

Yeah Donnie it will be a darker color on the main body and let's say light to medium color on the roof and under the side trim.

It's a toss-up. The dash would look good either color.

Maybe if you're going with white T&R upholstery, the lighter shade of the two colors on the dash, with the piping on the seats to match?

 

Great tip Donnie........I just installed for fitting my very very hard to find 51 Ford automatic column...a perfect fit against the 51 Lincoln steering wheel and it will go to the chromer.

Thanks just wanted to see if you had anything that showed how they came through the inside of the post. I have a totally different vehicle but trying to figure out where to come through the A pillar inside and thought I might get an idea from yours.

 

45 caliber, mark an X on the post and shoot it works everytime....ha ha.

I'm guessing you've never driven a car with a white dash board?

If I may chime in on the light vs. dark on the dash, A lighter dash (to me) looks better in general when looking at the interior from outside the car. Not that is is an even comparison, but my '60 has a white dash, and reflection/glare has never been an issue.

I expect this is already ironed out, but my 2 "sense"
