Sweet, love that black and polished look, at that pace you should have the body ready to paint by Tuesday. Rock on girly
I have to paint the body?? Maybe down the road he will go back to Flat Black as he was back in the day. Ron could have had the car painted (his brother worked at a body shop) but he was set on the flat black color so I will honor that, but for now I'm going to enjoy his age! Besides, people are paying a fortune for Tuffy's look! Thanks for the encouragment guys!
Nothing wrong with the flat black look. It worked for us in the 50's and will work now. Your close to nuts and bolts now with all the frame and rear painted. Soon the assembly will began and thats close to the end of the project. I do hope you make the LSRU.
WOW! Just read both parts. Took up most of my day. Awesome work! I Think it is great that you restored Tuffy. Can't wait to see this done.
KA-CHOW! I know I didn't work any harder today than others but it sure looked that way. I'm tired and there is not a part of my body that doesn't ache. Am I happy - oh yes! Seemed like I would never get here. Normally I would have sanded and buffed but no time and I think it's too much for Tuffy anyways. Worked 12 hours and headed home and started putting the rear brakes on. Got up today and finished the rear end. Hot Rod Granny walked in the shop just as I was wheeling the rear end under the frame. She unhooked the frame as I lowered it. Might as well install the front end too. INstalled the brake lines and cleaned up the exhaust and started to install. This has to be my favorite part of any build - I don't know why Time for a beer - note the blue Porter Muffler paint on my fingers. Austin Motel Koosey! Tired and dirty! What a beautiful day! How many days till Roudup?
How'd you get that much done,.....geez I read some of the recent posts a few days ago about getting it ready for a show. I was thinking "no way" Sorry I underestimated how fast you and Mo Mo can get stuff done.
17 days til' LSRU! (technically speaking, of course, since you'll be there Thursday, right? ) You are a machine, a freakin' machine!!! I so admire you grrrl!!! At this rate, you'll be the first one at Reggie's on Thursday!
WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!! Another great progress report!!! I think the frame looks great and perfectly appropriate for a car with history....especially one where the owner was more motor minded then details minded. Looks great. And then when I seen the chassis all together.....well daaaaaaaammmmmmnnnnnnn!!!! Killer work as usual.
Frankie - I am trying for Thursday as it is my favorite day of Roundup. Looking forward to seeing you and your Mom! I don't even have hotel reservations cause I'm not sure when I am leaving? Thanks for the kind words. I thought it would go fast, but not that fast. I put a punch mark on everything on the drivers side and that sure helped. Daylights burnin!
You're always welcome to crash at my place -- got a couch and an air mattress if you want Not exactly the lap of luxury, but I'll make ya coffee in the morning, and I have clean towels.
Wow 17 days. Are you trying to get it running by then or just together enough to trailer it in for a static display?
^I was just thinking about all the wiring and stuff. Some of that can be tedious. The devil is in the details.
Agree with you drjones - devil in the details. I'm draggin today for sure. If I can't drive Tuffy to Roundup, he wont go. Now if we have a breakdown on the way, then you may see him on a trailer. Although I admire the trailer queens I don't see how you can really enjoy them. I hope to fire him up next week. Frankie, I may take you up on that if I can't find a room. I'm thinking a last minute cancellation at the Homestead? Your too funny but I can't wait to take him down the 1/4 mile!
You are an animal! Who eve is at the Round Up please buy this woman a beer for me, I will paypal you the cash!
