Opinions on 4 doors???

  1. This was still true when I graduated five years later. Rust wasn't cool, either.

  2. As with any car project with all of the time and money you are going to invest in her, it had better be true love and not just thinking that maybe you could love her. I had a decent 32 four door that I thought just maybe I could fall in love with but I finally sold her. Now if she had been a coupe, well that would have been the kind of love that would have lasted through thick and thin. I guess it's really about knowing yourself not kidding yourself.

My opinion, since you asked, would be to make your two door as comfortable for the family as possible. Dynamat, mufflers, comfy seats and seat belts - sounds like a plan. I got the chopped Shoebox I have now because Jaker couldn't fit two car seats in the back. The car I traded for it? A TWO door Buick Special - plenty of room. I personally have never owned an older four door vehicle, nor do I have any desire to.

But EVERY old car is not a Hot Rod or Custom, contrary to what some of the guys who post here think.

I don't have a problem with guys who dig four doors, but the more they argue that they're 'just as cool as a two door' the more I wonder who they're trying to convince - themselves or everyone else?

  4. Make mine a 2dr..always. I understand in todays old car hobby, the 4 drs are becoming ever increasingly popular..makes sense (availability, price, etc.), it doesn't change my opinion (stemming from being a teenager in the 60's and 70's), that the 4 drs simply put, were not cool. If I were much younger, my thoughts may/probably, would be different. To anyone who wants to build a 4dr, more power to you. To each their own.

I'm not against them personally. But in your situation it seems to me making your present car better will save you some dough. People buy cars with good intentions and then they end up with crap. I love old cars two or four it doesn't matter. I'm old enough to know that four doors weren't really popular with the hot rod crowd. But then again my mom drove a '64 Fourdoor Malibu. It was jacked up in the rear and was fast, but it was more sleeper than hot rod, read beater. Over the years I've looked at fourdoors for different reasons but to be honest I haven't found one I'd like to have right now. As for wagons, they are more of a now trend than a traditional thing. I love wagons and grew up lookin out the back window goin down the highway. My soft spot for wagons is that of a utility reason. Just like trucks. What good is a truck if you can't use it? Old or not? I'm not a car guy either so my 2 cents may not pay here. Build what you want. Good luck.

  6. I will say that some of you seem awfully young to be so comfort and convenience oriented. 2 doors aren't THAT hard to deal with. LOL

2 doors are better looking for sure, but a 4door is cool for a daily driver, a wagon or just a simple affordable way to get into the hobby...and dont worry about people running thier mouths about a 4 door, most of em are two chicken shit to say anything to your face anyway, that only happens in message board land. Imagine what I would do to the guy that told me my wifes for door wagon is for fags...try me!

The 4 door guys are lower class dorks scum bags looser geeks. There are you two door guys happy. Do you guys feel better and more of a old car lover now?????? 4 doors have no place on this earth but the junk yard. There I got all the bashing out of the way. Now Im gonna go cry and jump in my 4 door and drive the shit out of it. SMELL YA LATER!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my 4 door. Screw those who are naysayers!! LOL! I get just as many if not more thumbs up and compliments in my 4-door than I ever did in a two door.

  20. Yeah,4 doors really suck.

Why on earth would a premier builder like Roy Brizio that is known for building some great cars every tackle the job of creating 32 Vicky which have always been Tudor cars and build a phantom 4 door Vicky?

After viewing his results I personally think it's a shame Henry Ford didn't do it. HRP

Like,,,, Don't like,,,,It's your money, do what u want. Personally, I've always gone against the grain of things------maybe that's why I like my four door so much.

Our kids have grown up, and we're currently collecting grandkids. My wife's car is strictly O/T, but as she uses it as 'nan's taxi' I recently had no choice but to trade it up from a tudor to a mordor model for her.

Ok, main reason... Our newest grandson is 12 months old. He's one hefty little lump, and he rides in a 'safety capsule' in the back seat. Now my Deb's only a scrawny little thing, and leaning over the laid down front seat, stretching into the back seat, and hefting one fat baby plus safety capsule out from back there was really wreaking havoc on her back. It got so bad she simply couldn't lift him out of the car any more, so I swapped her little tudor for a larger fordor car.

A lot's going to depend on your wife's size and strength. US cars are a lot bigger than Aussie ones too, so this factor is really going to have to be taken into account unless you want your wife with a crook back for life.

    Cheers, Glen.

I like my 4 door, not because it is a 4 door, but just cause it's a cool car. I also own a 2 door rod and a truck.Maybe it's because I don't like following the rules, or having a cookie cutter rod. Mine is way cooler than a plastic, high dollar, 37 ford.
