Absolutely! Great idea, Jerry. A cruise video. Get Jr.'s take on the music he liked to listen to back then (hopefully it's not Perry Como.)

To understand what an accomplishment this was (building this car) you have to be impacted by how young Jr was (looked). For this reason the 16 y.o. (see post #1053) grandson would have been perfect. That window of opportunity has closed. He's grown up, with the emphasis on UP.

It's just sad that this car isn't being driven...

Sell it to someone who will drive it. PLEASE!

Well, there's no easy way to say this. This car will not be at the roundup. I was clear coating the dash where Jr. had signed it. I had everything shrouded in masking paper to control the overspray. I needed some light to be able to see the dash at the windshield. I attached a trouble light from the roof and a box over the windshield. I neglected to turn off the light between coats. The light warmed up the tape and the light came down off the box and hit the windshield. My glass guy is booked and I don't trust anybody else. For those of you that were looking forward to seeing it I am truly sorry.

How many different ways could this have been done and prevent this from happening? Let me see. This is one time that you are glad that this is not your car. I hope there never is another.

I will be taking this car to a number of venues in this area this summer. I will be driving it to many. I'll let you know when/where.

    Ah, the adventure continues.

  6. Sorry to hear that Jer, Car is looking amazing...

  7. Did it damage anything else other than the glass? Sorry to hear the sad news.

It was just the glass. I dunno it seams like this glass is weaker than modern glass. I need to ask Glenn my glass guy. Of course it would have helped if the trouble light would have been plastic rather than metal.

I do need to report on the Dallas Autorama deal. I tried to find out what happened regarding this cars location in the show building. It was in the most obscure, remote spot possible. My attempts to get an answer on the record as to what happened was not satisfactory. From the Ceo of the company down to the local show promoter. I was met with smoke/mirrors and no one secure enough to give me an answer.

The lesson here is to get these things taken care of before you arrive and assume nothing. After the GNRS experience I was certain that every “car show guy” knew what this car was and would appreciate having it in his show. Silly me.

I bought a nice Featherlite 20' trailer from my oldest son. This is going to solve a lot of problems. Of course, it's also going to create some.

We were next to Dick Jackson at the GNRS. Dick helped me with the phone bracket and the spotlights. He was able to look the car over pretty good because he was right next to it. He complimented me on how well the car turned out. He did mention however, that there was one thing that not very many people would know about that I got wrong. This is Dick with us at the show and back in the day.

When I first talked to Jr about the b/up lite lens's I assumed they were just flat white plastic. Oh no, there wasn't anything just "slapped on" this car. Jr said there was a clear lens on the white one that he beveled and glued to it.

It's the only pic I had that was a close up of the tail lite area. We went to the GNRS like this (after it was striped of course).

Well anyway, Dick said that "these b/up lites were out to here" on the lens's. I didn't know what to think as I had discussed that with Jr earlier. I didn't reply but made a mental note to ask Jr again about em'. Sure enough after we got back home and settled I asked Jr and he said "yup, Jacksons right". So here we go. This ain't no big deal, they're easy to get to. Jr's memory? Hey, how about mine?
