I made a deal with some local s****pers so I can buy parts off of any old car they get before they crush it. I bring cash and I pull off whatever I want to keep that day so they can crush it the next morning. Most stuff around here is pretty rotty if it's getting s****ped but lots of good parts.

That way, the s**** guy makes more money than he would have and I save all the best pieces. Everybody wins.

  2. my buddy runs a s**** yard, he saves anything worth saving, I just got a 75 and 76 harley dirtbike and am re-doing them, saved them from the s****per.
He also grabbed a very sweet, 60 ford comet, runs and drives, body and interior clean , crazy what people will haul for s**** prices. all it needs is a rear window.

Helped sell off a Junkyard few years back,, and it still gets me,,all those who whine and talk **** about s****ers..

You offer a parts car at a good price,,no one wants it,,,or they don't wanna pay $50 for that,,,also they go look at a car and latter you find the radio knobs ,,horn ****o etc missing cause they stole it. You have to at some point just tell the s****ers come get it,,,the nickle,, dime,,haggling over $10 BS gets old and ya just say the hell with it

Same here! Couple weeks back spotted a semi with numerous pancaked cars. All of which were pre 60s. Some cads etc. It made me sad to think that they're now "history." but if u ain't rich what can we do? Oh well

3 of the few worthwhile posts in this WHOLE thread. You don't have to be rich, that's a ******** excuse.

The rest of the mental giants crying about it should get off their wallet when they want something or shut their mouth and get stepping.

Lowriders Art Gallery here has s****ped some great builders in the past 20 years. Why? He simply couldn't save them all and store them for the "maybe gonna buy someday find my wallet lookers". Since I've know him he has GIVEN at least a dozen away or lost money on the fuel getting them hauled in because he couldn't stand to see the rare ones crushed.

I could accept the whole s****per/s****ping thing with a much better at***ude, if we were involved in a full blown world wide war situation (WW II) and the materials were needed for the war effort. Or, if the "s****" was going to stay here and support this country's economy....steel industry, production of durable goods (cars, appliances, etc), jobs for the country, etc. But, we all know where the majority, if not all of the "s****" will end up........if not for more of the "throwaway" Asian ****, then more of the "luxury" Asian ****. How many Kia ****boxes will come back from that beautiful Buick? How many Lexus SUV components are there in that Buick. And please, don't give me the worn out response about those Asian production facilities providing jobs....
think about it, where are the PROFITS from those brands (Kia, Toyota, Hyundia) ending up? And it all starts here on our shores and in our backyards and fields. Global economy......BAH HUMBUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i won't sell to a s****per, evean if they offer more than i'm asking.

you know that saying " ya can't save em all" ? i atleast have the guts to try.

i sell project cars to people for projects not so they can s**** em, and i use the cash to save more cars.
if you buy from me, you sign the dotted line and give your oath that evean if the car
gets wrecked it you won't s**** it or sell it to someone who will.

i've had a LOT of people just walk away, but the few that didn't i'm proud to know.

i just had a guy drive 5hrs each way to buy an OT car for s**** price (it was bad off). but he needed a few key parts that it had! and i felt good!

My daugher gets pretty steamed over seeing it..she already knows my reaction.
Im thinking it was her determination that made me buy my current project, she kept saying, "you know, if you dont buy that and fix it up dad,its going to get junked"..she found my A sedan, and was very persuasive over 2 weeks about going and getting it.
    Glad i did
$600 for that, probably would have been worth it, even if you just parted it out to those building Buicks of that year and make..the frame could be worth that to someone

Its about 185 ton here right now, just called yesterday. I know there is stuff goin and I just don't want to know! Yes, some if it is worth stepping up and paying but I looked at about 6 last fall that would have cost me 200 a piece to buy. S**** has gone up since then so they would be even higher now. By the time I dragged em home I would have had double that in them and they just were not worth it. Makes me sick to know the are forever gone but 4-500 in a rusted out car sometimes just isn't worth it.....

Had some ***hole s****per (two "p's" in "s****per", BTW) pull up my rather long driveway the other day. ALL of my stuff is inside, and I do mean ALL of it! So, this clown asks if I have any s**** I need "hauled off for free" (what a guy, huh?), I said "NO", figuring he'd leave...oh, not so fast! He then has the audacity to ask if he can look around in my shop, which the doors were all closed up. At that point, I told him to leave immediately, as I took his picture and a pic of his beat-to-**** truck, and told him never to come back, ever. He actually took offense to that. What a jackwagon!

Takes all kinds, I guess. If anything comes up missing in the near future, I have my prime suspect.

I have hauled several cars that had a lot of parts available on them . When I have them on my trailer no-one wants them ,a week after they are gone everybody wants them, you can't worry about it. One hot rod type wanted to strip some stainless of off one of them . I ask what he was going to do with it and he said resell it. He got upset I wouldn't give it to him for free ,he said your just going to s**** it I might as well have it. If you are not willing to pay more than the recyclers, don't get upset about them making a living.

  16. New Prices came out yesterday $11.oo per hundred for car bodies here. batteries .30 cents a pound. appliances $9.oo per hundred. Im going to haul about 50 batteries in tomorrow. Also I have 50 years worth of discarded appliances at the farm I can make money cleaning the place up a little! A local salvage yard has 5000 cars. He closed to the public hasnt got a phone number where he can be contacted. He hauls a few off every week to the s**** yard. I see him driving by . A out of work neighbor stopped by here when I was gone in the semi truck wanting to sell a 69 chevy convertable. It has a 327 engine good ***le had rust on bottom of one quarter. It went to the crusher before I found out. Its a shame but with the bad economy and folks out of work I expect it will become worse. OldWolf

oh man i would love and old stove and fridge!!! hahaha. but i doubt they would work after those years :)

S**** here right now is out of control too. We s****ped a bunch of model A engines and other ***orted garbage from my neighbor last week. Had a model A rear end on its way there too but managed to give it away to a good friend in the name of saving it and putting it back to use. i'm sure a lot of vitnage tin will be quickly disappearing from yards, barns and fields
