havent done anything with carbs yet. im hoping to get it to another machinist i know that does multi carb set ups and he can get it dialed in and adjusted. basically just machine work is done. head have to be polished, intake has gotta be polished, mag needs restored hopefully bendix points and new coils put in, need a lead plate as well to adjust timing.

Beautiful for sure. A labor of love!

  13. thats not to crazy a price....I built mine on a short budget over 5 years scoring discount and clearance parts. the carbs, intake and heads alone are getting into the high $4-5K range flathead stuff isn't cheap by any means.

no not at all and when you get into some of this custom machining it gets out there...sad part is im getting a lot of built flatheads sitting around....when you start having $45,000 in motors sitting in your garages your car problem is getting out of control.

Pretty. Did that require 8 wet thickwall sleeves to achieve that over 4" bore?

yep! that's the way i do it too. shoot, this last 31 coupe i bought a week or so ago, i wasn't expecting to be able to actually buy, and when it came down to "ok, you can have it. bring me the cash" i was scrambling to come up with another grand or so-selling stuff i didn't need, etc. a guy in my car club offered me the cash so i could secure the car, but i didn't feel comfortable owing anyone money, even for a week. it all worked out though, just took me a couple extra days to round up some more "disposable" income. ha!

no sleeves....actually this was a very thick walled block when they sonic checked it...

    bore is only 3-3/8"

    stroke is 4-1/4"

I sure hope you get it finished up and we meet up again this year, i really would love to see that, and hear it in person. There's not many sounds as sweet as a built flathead!! :)

  29. That is a beautiful engine! I can't wait to hear it. Are those the new cast Harrell heads from Matt at Gear Drive? They look sweet.
What part of PA are you in? A lot of PA guys come over for the Spin Out show in Talmadge near Kent, Ohio. It would be nice to see your car there.
