  5. Hey Ian, I've been following a couple of your builds. Your work is just fantastic, I'm amazed at what you're doing. I've a question regarding your leadwork. You are washing with soda between tinning & applying lead? I've been using the soda after I applied lead. You method seems to make way more sense...I wish I'd read you opinion re; lead free solder, I just sprung for some.

Thanx man!! Yes, the MOST IMPORTANT, is to clean your tinning flux!!
your lead too once you're all filed up and smoothed out......I DO!!
I'm no old school lead guy and i don't pretend to be!! I taught myself and by trial and error i think i got it down!!! Not rocket science, it just takes a little practice in controlling your lead as it melts!!!

I hate to say it, but Lead free blows!!! I tried it, and didn't know better!!! 70/30 is the way to go!!! You can't file lead free.......It's freakin' hard like concrete!!

Just make sure to wear clean medical gloves to handle the lead and a good mask!! I do..........:)

Damn bro! Chopping that 61 is crazy cool! I used to have a 62 Cad back in the day, And was going to chop it but never did, but I did start by ripping the cherry headliner out! Ha! I used to drive the shit out of it back in the Paso days, Good Times!
Keep Up the good work Bro and I Hope to visit you soon...
    Cheers!

Thanx man!!! too bad you never got to it!! :(
    You're always welcome here brother!!

  14. Thanks for the input! Don't sell yourself short. I've been messing with lead for a while on my musclecar stuff. Put full quater panels on some of these cars and you learn that they had huge amounts of lead in them at the seams from day one. I've yet to get one perfect with lead, and what you're doing is WAYYY harder...good job!

Ian... I'm really wanting to bring my shoebox out and have you chop it.... Man I love your work!!!!! I don't know if it'd really be feasible for me to bring it out there with fuel prices, but I hope we can work something out at some point when I get to the shoebox project!

oh man, what did you have to go and do this for??!! now you got my wheels turnin'. i'm giving my 61 CDV a make over and would love to chop it after seeing yours, but i just can't bring my self to do it after spending a small fortune on the already installed interior. you make house calls??!! i only hope mine can hold a candle next to yours, cause yours is pretty badass man.

My god... I haven't been on the HAMB in a while and I just caught this thread. You may very well be building the most beautiful Cadillac ever. Love that you are bring '60 influences into a '61. Gorgeous, man. Can't wait to see where this goes...

  28. Cool! I just bought a 60 2 door hardtop and if it comes out in 1 piece I'm going to flip it. If not I,ll be parting it out. Don't know if it will fit on my car trailer though.....damn they are big!

Ian, I searched "Lady Luck" and came up with your build. I forgot that you told me at the Beatnik Blowout you were going to build another 60's car. Just picked it up - Looks great!

  30. There's not many things I'm 100% sure of. This thread has shown me two. Number one, that's gonna be a bad ass ride, and number two, I'm glad I'm not the one that's gonna have to get that thing mirror straight down the sides. That's gonna be some serious block time. I did a 61 Starliner back in 84 and I thought the quarters would never end but damn, them quarters go on for miles. Best of luck to you and looking forward to seeing this get wrapped up.
