    OK

Finally got out to jimmy's and took some shots. Sorry to report but Jimmy has been making a living latley. He's been busy at making a living during the day so he can play in the evenings and weekends. Plus we will take an little intermission and I will show you a sneek peek at what he was working on before he started the build on the Emerald Tide. Some people have requested some pics on his shop and just some of his machinery so here is a few pics. Enjoy. Since I reported last he has had the cab on the frame and off the frame and on the frame and off the frame. You get the picture.
He has sectioned the doors and hung them on the cab but still has to make the outside skin.

The inside of the doors are going to be finished as nice as the outside of the doors.

He has also worked on the floor some but doesn't have all the details worked out yet.

Next he is going to work on the cab corners and start on the firewall soon.

OK boys and girls now we will have a little intermission. Here is a sneek peek at what Jimmy was working on before he got side tracked and built the Emerald Tide. Some might think this car is not HAMB friendly but the talent level is over the top. I think you will agree.

Here is a drawing he did and planted it on the wall full scale.

and here is a pic of the chassis he made from scratch. Thats right he made the frame rails with some plate and rounded the top and bottom edges to make it look like factory. It's always kind of been hidden in the shop so this is the first look at his original project.

You honestly will not believe the craftsmanship he has put into this frame. Everything has been ground smooth and you cant see any welds or pits or any defects what so ever. It looks like one piece.

Ok That's enough of that. I can't give away all the secrets. Next are some pics of his shop and just some of his tools.

These are just some general pics of the tools.

Some people are lucky to have just one Pullmax but Jimmy has two.

    a small press brake.

    and a bigger press brake.

    Here's a large computerized punch.

A very deep throat band saw.

A grinding room that he built. It has exhaust in the table and hooks up to a central vacume system that he also built .

Here's a table of dies for his two press brakes.

believe it or not he only has one lathe.

Just some of his drill presses and a bridgeport.

About a six foot three roll roller.

    Here's a sander.

Here's a pic of some of his grinders and the exhaust system that hooks up to every grinder in the room.

And lastly just a peek of one of the crest he has planned for his masterpieces.

He hopes to make some progress in the near future but it will probably come till after the roundup. The word now is that the Emerald Tide will be at the Lonestar Roundup but the LIT UP truck will not make it. Just not far enough along. I will post updates as they come available.

That's gotta be the most impressive shop I have ever seen. Holt shit! And as far as Lit Up goes, well let just say I'm in love....in love with the idea, in love with the work, and in love with the vision. Oh and this grinding table is genius....

Well believe it or not Jimmy is pretty much a one man show. His brother in law helps sometimes though. That's why his progress has been slow latley. He has to make a living .

I met Jimmy and his wife at the Nostalgia Nationals at Beechbend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky a year or two ago when he had just finished the all aluminum pickup. I'll never forget his wife telling me to open the drivers door and take a look inside. Never had an opportunity to lay my hands on such a beautiful piece of work. Then she told me to slam the door.... She had me do it three times because I wasn't slamming it hard enough, haha. I couldn't believe how stout the door is. Stronger than many new cars' doors.

Then I had a chance to speak to Jimmy. I didn't really know what to say to him or ask him. It was just amazing to meet someone who has that great of talent. Hope to meet him again, and hope I'd have more to say. Great projects! Great talent!

I know its a bit early to think of paint but does he plan on replicating the asymmetrical flames? Maybe Keith can do a layout of the passenger side.

This thread is a true window onto a work of art in the creation!
