Anyone deal with The Hot Rod Company ?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RobsHemiA, Jan 12, 2011.

  1. I've used this company several times and never a problem. I've already have a list for future purchases.

  2. They've done right by me.

Always had good luck with them, they shipped products on time and as promised, had an item missing from an order once and it was resolved quickly with no B.S. Good outfit in my book. I have found in general that most company's or vendor's don't do e-mail real well for some reason. Just my 2 cents worth

This type of thing is getting more and more common. Rodders place good faith orders and the supplier doesn't deliver. Not only don't they deliver they don't even answer the phone. Don't know about you but The Hot Rod Co. won't be getting any of my business.

just got a delivery from them (oversea shipping). everything is perfect, good wrapped and they know how to ship it "economical" - that means no stupid ups or overnight shipping...
there is more stuff coming soon from them ;-)

remind everyone that slow responses are typical in a business where the owner is savvy enough not to get too excited about hiring more people to answer phones and emails. Shops that expand too quickly to fill an anticipated (read: hoped for) boom in business quite often over-extend themselves financially and when there is the typical lull in activity (as happens in any business), they must lay folks off, or if they try to save everyone ultimately meet their demise as a commercial endeavor. Be thankful that they are trying to satisfy their customers as best they can without getting 'too big for their britches' until they can find a level of supply/demand that they can accommodate. These are not the best of economic times, and I'm thankful for any suppliers that can remain afloat.

  10. I've dealt with Mike several times and always talk with him at the Pile Up! He's a topnotch Dude and his service has been great.

He's too well known and a good business man to screw anyone now. Be patient...

    Well then good luck.

Michael is a genuine guy. Talk with him for a couple of minutes and you'll know what I mean. The last thing he wants is to upset customers.

He's plenty busy and the fact that he doesn't get right back to you shouldn't keep you from ordering from him. I don't think this is his full time gig.

Instant gratification has really spoiled people. You can get most things right now, so people want everything right now.

I just ordered something for him today and the factory is back ordered on it. With the economy like it is, more and more companies are stocking less and less.

Not that it means anything to you, but I would give you my word that the Hot Rod Company would never intentionally screw anyone.

And I'd be willing to bet 100 people (or more) reply right after me and would say the same thing.

Probably placed 20-30 orders with Mike since he became an alliance member a few years back. Sometimes they take a week or so to get the goods but I've always been really happy with my dealings.
Just got a call that there's a box from thhotrodcompany at my door as I type:D

Top notch! And I ordered a book from him a couple of years ago and he personally called me to say that he couldn't get the book anymore. I have sent him some PM's over the years looking for parts and if they didn't carry it.......they would reply within' a week.

Try buying car parts or selling on ePay........I still haven't been burnt', but I have sold a messload of "junk" and I'm still waiting on feedback on many items....I have even called the people to make sure that they are "happy"........

I have read all the posts on the HOT ROD COMPANY both for and against. So about a week and a half ago I ordered a couple of hundred dollars worth of items from their wonderful Web Site. I elected to pay with Pay Pal which required the addition of shipping costs before I could pay. THE HRC sent me an e-mail stating this would be forth coming, 3 days later I sent an e-mail requesting the info. with no response, after another e-mail same request I phoned and left a message it appears no one answers the phone at the premises. To this date I have not heard from them, I hate to diss an Alliance Vendor but I need my parts and this is no way to treat a customer. If you are short staffed or it is a part time GIG, make some changes or quit advertising. If I could get hold of them I would CANCEL my order.

If you live in Canada, make some changes order locally or move

I waited unitl the last minute and I need my parts... I'm going to stamp my feet, email, call and post as many times as I can until I get what I want or my mom puts the pacifyer back in my mouth.

I get the impression that ALL the "I need my parts posters" are the same children who stand by the microwave tapping their spoons on the counter and complain while they wait 2 minutes for their cocoa to boil.

    1 - Quality
    2 - Schedule
    3 - Budget

Pick 2 Thats the way its always been

I've ordered from Mike when I lived in the Seattle WA, the same city as RB's obsolete... why because it was still better all around.

HRC may be a fine company, but THIS is a dumb-ass answer. Sorry, in this day and age, 10 days to wait for an e-mail that was promised by a commercial enterprise to tell how to order parts you clearly want is both unreasonable and a poor business practice.

I don't know Mike or the HRC and their offerings look great. But, I am in business and I can tel you straight up that someone who won't treat you square when you clearly want to buy gives a poor impression and certainly doesn't give any support to the notion that customer service would be available after the sale.

PIck2?? you're flat out wrong. There are companies that offer quality parts at a reasonable price and have a good business model that answers customers promptly. If I am paying my hard earned money to you why do I have to settle for 2 out of 3?

I have used HRC 4 or 5 times with excellent results. This always seems to happen it seems like there are as many happy customers as upset customers.
There was a thread on here the other day about a wheel company that I have used a few times and was very happy with yet there were so many unhappy customers. It seems like this is what we have to look forward to. Is it the company or piss poor employees or what? I know of one company where you have to order before lunch or the owner will be to drunk to get your order right. Sad state of affairs.

I just ordered one of their open drive conversion kits, literally about 10 minutes ago! They answered the phone on the fifth ring and where very polite. He said it was in stock and would box it up and ship it today, am hoping to have it by friday. It might help that i am only about 200 miles from them. :)

Give me a break, I do live in Canada and dont have to move to buy parts for my vehicles, since being on the HAMB I have tried to support the Alliance Vendors and that is what I was trying to do with the HRC. I can and will buy from other USA sources for these same goods. My point again is that if the guy cant handle the work load make some changes or at least have the decency to respond to a willing buyer

I'll post quickly before it's gets deleted.
HRC have always looked after me and delivered stuff quickly to Canada.
Most complainers are quick to tell companies how to do business but in the real world couldn't do it themselves.
Let's take one suggestion and take on more staff to cope with the few orders that don't keep the customer happy, who's willing to pay extra to cover the wages?
HRC in my eyes are as good as they come and until I have a problem will continue to be.
