    Got a question.

Will the front end off of a 66 Fairlane work on my 62 Falcon?

Been told the Fairlane and Falcons of that year shared the same suspensions, but not sure. Not going to discs, staying with drums. It looks the same.

Not going to a V8, sticking with the 6.

If it will work what other parts would I need besides the spindles, drums, hubs, and A-arms?

    Thanks in advance.

This one will be tricky. Yes and no. The early Falcon chassis was smaller and lighter than the Fairlane of the period. Some parts are common/interchangeable and some are not. There is also a slight difference between early Falcon (60-63) and later Falcon (64/65). In 1966, both cars were built on the same platform.

The suspensions are similar in design, not actual components. Ford instance the 66 chassis is wider so that shoots down steering linkage.

The later Falcon/Fairlane parts are a lot stronger, especially the spindles.

In less someone here can give you a definite answer, try here- -WOODYS FAIRLANE SITE-.

There should be someone there with the knowledge.

  3. No this will not work. 66 Fairlane lower and upper control arms are different than early Falcon, Steering linkage is different (track width is wider)
Could it be adapted? With a bunch of work, maybe, but better off to just get the right Falcon stuff.

  4. I have a set of 5 lug Falcon spindles sitting in the shop at home with all the brake hardware on them. A friend of mine was thinking about changing his '62-3 over to 5 lug because he was thinking about a V-8 but changed his mind. Let me know if you are interested and I will ask him for more information and what he wants for them.

  5. if you do use a set of V8 5 lug spindles, you have to change the steering linkage as well because the tie rod ends are bigger on the V8 spindle and that means all the linkage has to change. You can't change just the ends as the threads are larger and the that means a new center link as well.

You can go to mustangsteve.com for the tie rod ends to do this conversion. His parts will make it possible to use later Falcon, Fairlane or Mustang spindles to get five lugs, or you could use Granada spindles to get front disc brakes while you're at it.

On my 61 falcon ranchero I used 65 mustang a arms and maverick spindles an rotors for disc brakes, an the maverick rear end for 5 lugs.

  8. I've got a 5 lug drum swap for a falcon collecting dust in the garage.... It came off my girlfriends v8 car. PM me if interested.

I was thinking that on the track width, that it might be too wide.

If I get the spindles and brake set up, could I use 64-66 Mustang control arms with them to get the right track?
