Over the years, I have hauled many a car out of Mexico, the worst ones have been the ones I have found in the southern part of Mexico. Don't be to hard on the guy who built the car, the problem they have is that parts availability is almost nill, so they try to work with what they have, on top of that, the mexican goverment charges them almost 40% tax on any parts imported from the states, and they won't let you import any car frames, I was fornunate to find a good 36 3-window that had always been stored indoors, it had no rust holes in the floorpan, and when I peeled the body off, the frame still had pitting, this was do to the design of the floor pan, it trapped lots of moisture between the pan and the frame, ford changed the design of their floorpans in 37, I am using a 40 frame on mine, all you do is change the radiator supports in front, the other advantage is that you can use a 40 steering box , and the frame is already set up for juice brakes. Like all the guys are telling you, 36 3-windows are hard to find, it took me years to find a good one.

i was never hard on the guy that built it, i even said the same as you about parts being hard to find earlier on in the thread (you must have missed that part)

its the guy that sold it to me, his name is SLED who is an italian living there selling old cars to suckers around the world. he is either a thief or knows shit about cars because an idiot could see the problems with the car when i bought it, and the only problems he told me about were some scratches to the paint and a little rough welding to the fenders.

i could write a huge shopping list telling of the SERIOUS problems, like the fenders being 4 inches to narrow, how is that even possible.

    34 bumpers
    37 axle and wish bone
bad home made hydro brakes form 36 plates
whole body being 1 1/2 inchs too far forward (causes serious problems)
i am not even going to start with the body
    chevy headlights etc etc etc

he told me none of this. his thread is called MEXICAN JUNK and that is exactly what it is. i advise you all to stay away.

hi guys, so the front end is finished and so now it is time to attack the rear.

i have been dreading this because of having to get the adjusting of the rear end just right. i am hoping it's easier than it sounds like the gearbox rebuild. is it???

well i have almost painted everything, my god there was a lot bits and pieces to paint. i have replaced ever bearing, racer and seal through out, i am really glad i bought a press a few months ago.

the rear wheels and rims are almost finished, just have to paint the FIRESTONE letters white.

i am hoping the front is not too low!!!

Oh god, I am excited and nervous for you. The stance was absolutely perfect before you tore down. I hope you get it close to that hahaha!!! James, it looks so damn good. makes me wish I would have taken the body off my '35.

JJ I wish a had not taken the body off. And buddy the stance was not as good as it looked in those photos, and it was very badly done.

But anyway it will look awesome!!

How are you going with your 35??

Buddy I would not take the chance of learning from here, it's like the blind leading the blind. This is my first car build remember.

I trust that the stance will be better judging from how well you've done with your car thus far.

My '35? Eh, it's getting there. Engine looks great in the bay and the 97's are going to be cool but I am having trouble finding the cash to rebuild them.

I am finishing up the fuel lines and I am waiting to get a "WYE" brazed for my brakes right now. After that I am ordering more insulation and then wiring the car completely so I'm doing alright. If I could just get the 97's rebuilt and an interior I would feel much better!!!

Yes it all about sacrifice, I am totally, completely out of cash for now so I will finish up the chassis one 100%, then just throw the body back on until I get a few more piggies back in the bank. So no paint or interior for now but the chassis will be kick ass, kind of a sleeper.

Hey jj what do you think about the rear wheels.???

I've been wondering about your car... looks killer.

I took my spring apart a few years ago and added a spring liner and radiused the edged of the springs as they sat on the one below so they would slide easier, I read that in an old book somewhere...

as with everything it looks great.

I did the same minus the liner, I just have the liner for the back. But I did grind the spring edges then just packed it with grease.

    Jamesville,

Love thee thread and build. Did you fill in the white Firestone, etc on the blackwall side of the rear tires? If so, what did you use?

    Keep up the great work!!!
