well guys i went and done it i got a red ram hemi that i had for years and went and bought a jeep 2wd straight axle.
just need some ideas of a cheap body from the mid 50's to early 60's im on a limited income and would go with a 4 door if i had to but what could i expect to get with 1000 to 1500 about what i have to spend on a body .
i also have a 9 in ford rear end im going to use out back i would just have to find a manual trans for my motor .
can any one point me to the right thread for ideas or have any of there own ?

X2 on getting an 8 3/4!!! They're PLENTY stout, only weak spot is the housing tubes bending forward on a really wide stocker when lot's of power meet lot's of traction in the presence of lot's of weight.- not typically a problem with a drag set up....don't worry about a 741 being the "weak" one- it's still stronger than a 9.

I'm putting an LA Mopar (415) and 727 in my 61Falcon g***er which is sitting on an 8 3/4" Mopar rear right now. We're putting a Quickchange in her and pulling the 8 3/4- thought about offering you a swap, but then realized if the quickchange barfs, i'd be lost without my 8 3/4:p

No they're not as plentiful as a "Me too" 9inch but they're prettier!

Either a wagon or a two door.
    62-64 Dodge Dart
    62-64 Plymouth Valiant
    59-64 Rambler American
    Any year Studebaker Lark
    Any year Metropolatin

Street G***ers should be light enough to be quick!

I agree on whoever mentioned wagons. ...by the way ^^ that AF/X Ranchero is straight up awesomeness.

Being a mopar guy myself, i can tell ya there are plenty o' A-bodies out there for cheap money. Everything from darts to valiant to early cudas. Falcons can be had pretty cheap too, though a mopar would be more unique as there are less out there done in that style.
That said if you wanna go older and stay on the cheap tip 49- 52 Plymouths or Dodges are reasonable and oddly available, and 53-4 Plymouths aren't too much more.
