Its good you have another project to keep your mind on something positive. Life will get really good again soon. Been thru the same thing, yet I always say things could be worse, I could still be married to her. :D

So, we got the motor purring like a kitten tonight. New starter and plugs, timing adjust, carb adjust and she is running sweet. This week we are doing a tranny service, oil change, belts, hoses, fuel lines, filters, etc.. Next week its getting wired from front to back. I am gonna start the interior next week too.

Here are few pics from tonight.

Any of you boys coming to the swap meet, I am in need of hood latch, both the hoodside and the part that bolts on to the core support

Dude, check out this score from the swap meet today.. the steering wheel has NO cracks in it and is almost prefect, the horn button is very clean with minimal pitting, nice clean door handles, New lenses in the original FOMOCO box, although one lense is pretty foggy( clear ones) and the Ammo box will be bolted down in the bed. All of this for, for $80. Thats right.. only $80. The steering wheel alone has got to be worth well more than that.. Gawd I love swap meets, and I still have all day tomorrow to go.

Rear brake lenses and maybe another set of front square lenses. Sun visors, and head liner kit, interior light lense I think that it.

So here was my day today.. I changed out the stupid orange tape front signals the dude had on there. Check out how that was rigged.. Retarded.

Then I put on the bumper Chris brought me at the swap meet. Measured the holes back and cut the frame back 3 inches. Sucked the bumper up to the body as you all do.

I found a factory gauge cluster out of a cab over semi in these years. It has all the gauges in in, water temp, oil pressure, fuel, amps, and Speedo, That was changed over today. $40 was all I had to give for that at the swap.

I also put on my new steering wheel and put in the rear view mirror. This week we are gonna try and get the seat mounted, arm rests in and the seat covered. My buddy is gonna start the complete wiring in it to this week.

    More to come stay tuned....

So I have been doing my research and found that SacVintage makes the Mono Leafs most guys are using. I am thinking that the reversed eye mono for 4.5 inch drop are the ticket, along with new lowering shocks and new shackles. The total cost is $620 shipped to my door.

I called Oregon Spring today and asked them if they could do any better or build me some custom drop springs that got me that low. He said he could only do a 3" drop spring pack and they were $175 each. And buy the time I added in shackles, bushings, and shocks it was the same price. He told me the mono springs have a much better ride and that if it was hit old truck he would do the mono leafs.

So, I dont really have the money, but I am thinking my credit card is in order. Do you guys think this is the way to go. If my stock springs were not heated and bent I would be doing a drop axle, but I have to get new springs to even make this thing road worthy.

Let me know, I want to order them this week!!!

Its coming along. Tomorrow night, my bud Richard is gonna start the wiring. This guy is amazing. He is gonna rewire the entire truck from headlight to taillight, including a new fuse panel, switches if they need to be replaced, bulbs, sockets and everything needed for about $400. I cant wait. It will be custom wired. He likes to hide most everything so that there will be no wires seen. And on top of all that he solders everything followed but shrink tube. No butt connectors.

This should be amazing. I am gonna order new springs, shocks, and shackles this week.. I am thinking it should be rolling to the gas station and small trips in a few weeks.

I am open to ideas too. I want to so something with the lower grill. I thought I saw one that had the knobs or bottle cap look if you will. Post some ideas and pics with ideas.

So the wiring was started tonight. Richard had to just rip out all this birds nest and start over fresh. .Here are few sneak peaks at the before pics.

And I ordered the springs today. Eric at Riley Auto set me up with the 4.5" reversed eye mono leafs and shackles today. Sent them free shipping. His price is a few bucks cheaper and he told me shipping was free. Saved me about $30.

Should see them soon. Next step is to finish wiring, new valve stem seals and new valve covers this weekend, Finish putting the interior back together and put the white walls and steelies on. Should be about another month and she will be ready for road trips.

So, I did a little more work today. Got the old shifter arm cut off the column and mounted the vintage tach I scored, got the old clutch pedal taken out, mounted up the 63 Chevy taillight lenses, put the seat cover on to see how it will look. More to come this week. Still waiting on my new mono leafs, shocks etc to come. Stay tuned.

Thanks guys. This build means a lot and I am super proud of it. I am really looking for some ideas. If you have things you would like to see or any ideas for fun shit to do it, input would be awesome.

I am really wanting to cut out the bottom grill and do the mesh and bottle caps behind it. Anybody done this before? I have an idea about it but knowledge is power.

  30. Bird I dont know about bottle caps but pull knobs work.. Get your self some metal mesh and lots of chrome round knobs, lay it out, put it together and install. If you are gonna go a little more Kustom shave the emblems, handles, mirrors,
