A Chevrolet shell should work, if I remember correctly a GMC is just a Chevrolet with lock washers. No?

For the radshell? That's what I am using, it fits the same, the GMC shell is deeper and shaped nicer in my opinion.

I don't quite get the lock washer comment...

Actually its an old joke, GMC being an upscale version of Chevrolet. Works with Fords and Mercurys too... oh well, I'll go eat my Cheerios now.:D

Mine got drugg from its crypt yesterday morning at 8 am rush hour--The fuzz doesnt like to be around at that time:D

The worthless-booger eating chicken*****er across the street who thinks he is the one man a-hole home owners****ociation, cannot do a thing-even if he knew it was there now due to my clever retrofitting the carport with the side and front closeouts--the upward angled louvers let in light but no-one can see a thing from the street:cool:

The heavy duty*****er 5 speed from a 2 ton international/ford can bolt up to many diesels--or a chevy v8, 292 etc with the adaptor plate or the SAE #3 bell. its for sale in N texas -4 benjies

and also pics of the crossmember mounts and the custom machined steering box plate I made yrs ago

Saw this truck at GG Del Mar today but the owner wasn't around to ask. I'll see if I can catch him tomorrow, but my impression is that it was put together from several pieces of other cars, probably Studebaker trucks of one sort or another. Some evidence of non-factory fit were evident, like the back of the headlight buckets.

Hey man I really appreciate that! :D

The headlight buckets on a few of the Studes I have checked out over the last few years did not fit flush, it might be a common issue.

25 years ago I saw this '38 on a farm where I cut my firewood. I've been after the owner to buy it since. 'Gonna restore it some day'. A few months ago I found out he's moving away and cant take it with him. YEP! Its now mine for the same price I offered back then.

I'll be picking up my pile of bits next weekend
That '38 grille shell is not part of it :(
(I also am building a '38 6 seater dual cab at the moment)
Unfortunately this stuff is '42, but once I change a few things, it will also be '38 :D:D:D

    Hello from Finland
Partly because of this thread I ended up buying COE for myself. I was actually first looking for a f1 pickup for a daily driver but then I thought why not go for the big ones because we need a car hauler for my friends race car. The F5 Ford is still in Michigan cause I bought it just a few weeks ago. I cannot wait to get it home and start working on it. Here are few pics from the F5:

I have to ask, what the hell happened to it?

  18. You ask what happened to IT, you should be asking what happened to THEM as there are the remains of two Cabovers in that lot.
But then Rod does like a challenge !!! (grin)

Now regarding the 38 Ford COE that just came from the farm, I have never seen a Ford COE of the this vintage with Bumper Bar over riders on it, facory option or later fitment ?

I'm guessing factory option.....My '38 Ford truck has them too. That is one of the nicest COE "field finds" I have ever seen.

Congrats on the COE, but the long wait to get it home must be tough. It should make a great hauler.

Seats are in. :D First time down the road. I have had trouble putting gas in this and found out the roll over valve was not letting it vent. I have a speedo programing issue that I will overcome this week. Small oil leak that should be fixed. :?

Super nice truck! Behind it is an uber rare 61 DeSoto! (one of my dream cars)

Good start, I'm sure you'll love it!

I might be offering one of my 1506 GMC cab/frame for sale in N Texas with the two door type nose.
main thing i like about these-The cab is as wide as the 48 up 5 window style but got the 30's look about them. and the superman style grill!
