  2. Your build is just awesome - I've checked it out from start to finish - glad to see you "toughed" it out and did your own exhaust header pipe. A pain in the "butt" however a great bit of satisfaction when done. Although it's your first car build, it is definitely a quality one throughout!

I've heard there is like a 900w or something that you can get from resto stores that is best for rears and such. There might a modern equivalent but I plan on picking some up from Dennis Carpenter's and running that since that's what has worked for a long time.

CHASSIS FINISHED!!!!!!! well maybe a few tiny details left, but in the big picture its done.

i now understand why not everyone is driving around in a hot rod. its HARD WORK!! there are times i can so close to quitting, i am now glad i did not.

now will start on the body, but i will only do the minimum just to get the car back on the road. i want to enjoy the car for a while save up some money and this winter tackle the body, paint and interior.

Yes it does. There are shallower ones and deeper ones. I bet you need a deeper one huh? That's what I need right now. I'm just going to order one form speedwaymotors.com and have it rechromed to make sure it's good.

that is all i am doing on the body this season, maybe this winter or the next i will take off the body again and spent a whole winter on it, it needs a lot of work (well for me). I hope to get the body on this week and that means on to the wiring which is something i love to do.

Awesome... I can see you will need to mount your grille to get an idea of how forward the radiator needs to be, keeping in mind that Frod was never really fussy about how their panels lined up.

    Looks great

Tug master thank for the 'bad ass' comment, that's exactly what I am going for.

JJ, yes that is a King filter. So far it works great and more important it looks beautiful!!

Dooley, I mounted the grill today and things are not good. I think there is some problems with the radiator, it's been rebuilt and now to high. But I have just scabbed it back together it will do for now, I just want to drive it!!!

Fonti, curious to know what you mean by 'build it like you do'.

I took it for it's first really test drive today. Engine is running great but cuts out when I come to a light, I think I need a new vacuum thingy on the distributer.

The clutch is is slipping a little, I think really it needs a 10.5 or 11 pressure plate instead of the 50 Merc 10", or get some stronger springs.

There is some funny noises coming from the tranny, I am hoping they (the gears) are all just getting to know each other, but wow what a difference than before.

But it's driving and that's what is important.

Thanks guys for all your help, I could not of built this car without you and the HAMB, not a chance!!

Dooley that sounds cool, how much would you like for it?

No problem about shipping you ony have to send it to Virgina, I use a shipping company.
It's a lot cheap than mail.

But yes serious problems with the radiator. A I just paid a small fortune to get it recored.
It think it has been fixed a bunch of times on the bottom with patches and has ended up to high. I have over an inch gap between the grill and the hood. I will post a picture soon.

    Thanks buddy

I have had her on the the road a week now, and it seems that i finally got her to run good last night. she is simply just awesome to drive. i just need a front bumper and the running boards and she is done for this year, i just want to drive her!!

oh does anyone have some photos of the front and rear fender braces fitted to a 36, i can not seem to work out how they fit ????:confused:

and just for the record anyone who says that 'lincoln gears don't really make a difference' is completely crazy!!!

looking at the last pic and knwing from your radiator issue, can I guess that you have to move the radiator forward to clear your fan, so it does not hit the rad?

So by moving it forward, you gain clearance with the fan but it pushes the grille out and causes the hood not to line up?

if so then your recored radiator is too thick, and I think you told me that already.

The one I talked to you about that was in my car had similar issues, to the point that, to get the sheetmetal to line up I had to remove the fan off the pulley and run a electric fan in the front, cause that sucker was too thick to line up with the hood, and run a mech fan. There was not alot of room between the waterpump pulley and the radiator when done. i my have a pic somewhere.

My radiator was recored and it was made thicker which caused the problems I had and my be causing yours too, I'm not sure if the radiator is going to help, can you let me know how thick your rad is? I ended up buying a walker and it was much thinner and now I can run a mech fan.

    Le tme know

Car looks good, sits real nice.
